United-States Canadian CVT same as U.S. CVT?

Had an opportunity to drive a used '04 pw/b cvt that was on a local used car lot. I was VERY pleased with the behavior of the transmission under all conditions (wasn't doing any of the shifting myself - full auto mode), including under 10mph. Info in the glove box indicated the car was originally purchased in Richmond BC, so I'm curious if my experience driving this Canadian cvt with approx 8500 miles on the odometer is indicative of the what I will experience when my January build U.S. cvt arrives? Didn't know if the Canadian cvt's get a different program? Also interesting to note that this '04 MC had the shifting paddles on the steering wheel.

As I understand it, the gearbox itself is identical in every way for the MINI worldwide. The availability of steering wheel paddles is not, as you noted.
