Question hesitation

has anyone noticed a hesitation upon acceleration on the cooper cvt? when i push down on the gas pedal, it is not a smooth acceleration. the car is brand new..well, 77 miles, and only happens from a dead stop. if i'm rolling and push on the gas its ok. is this a cvt thing? does the engine have to broken in ? thanks for any help.

The delay might be due to the drive by wire system on the accelerator - see this thread

and yes, the engine does need to be run in/broken in - much mention of this both here and in the MINI owner's manual.... basically don't flog the pants off your car for the first 1300 miles

Mine does exhibit that hesitation from rest and it's run in now. It only does it if I try to accelerate hard, though.Have you tried it a) with ASC+T off and b) in steptronic mode ?

i don't have asc+t, just dsc (i don't have the S). it doesn't seem to do that in SD mode or steptronic, and you are right, you feel the hesitation more if you "step on it"
