Offline | Is $500 off msrp a good deal? My wife and I are interested in ordering a PW Cooper S Steptronic, loaded to about $30k with every option. The local dealers wouldn't budge on pricing, but if I drive a couple hours, a dealership is willing to give me $500 off. Is that pretty typical of what you guys are getting for discounts? Thanks, Stephen 1stephen1.com |

Offline | Wow... I had no idea... these little buggers command a premium, huh. Thanks for the feedback. I drove my ex-biz partner's MCS the other day with the full Works package and Eibach suspension... what a fun ride... reminded me of the days when I had a Miata. I'm definitely looking forward to Mini-ownership. Great forum, looking forward to contributing... Stephen 1stephen1.com |

Offline | Stephen, Dealers aren't discounting off MSRP so when you hear a quote like "$500 off MSRP" you have to make sure they aren't marking something up somewhere along the way just to say they are marking it down later. Make sure you are aware ahead of time of all the terms such as any "forced options," or any other fees or things applied to the car that they can then "discount" to give you the illusion of a deal. Nobody discounts Cooper S's so when I hear that offer I naturally get a little suspicious. |

Offline | You also need to account for the goodwill 'lost' by not buying from the dealer you're going to get service from. If sjbartnik's point isn't true, and its a real discount, then just be sure everything's happy and good. Otherwise, some dealers can be not as nice to outside customers - things like loaner cars are provided by the dealership, not by MINI, so its up to the dealer if they give one to you or not. Probably not worth losing a $500 discount over, but just something to keep in mind. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | Well... went to my local dealership, and ordered a fully loaded Pepper White... $30k is a lot of money for a Mini, but I can already tell it's going to be a great addition to our car experience. And I was able to get $500 off msrp along with free floor mats. The sales person told me that they just about never give discounts, so I felt very fortunate to have negotiated the deal. Had it all worked out over the phone before ever showing up. It'll be an early March-build... really looking forward to it! I did get a chance to testdrive a newly unloaded Steptronic... much happier with the power of the S. Tranny felt tight. Handling was tight despite not having the performance package. Awesome car! Offline | Perhaps they were inclined to give you $500 off because you were speccing one out to $30k, which is also on the rare side. However, are you really sure you received $500 off?! Like stryder mentioned, make sure they didn't add it in elsewhere. What was your doc fee?! Hopefully not over $500!!! ![]() ***BMW-AG Rocks!!!*** Portsmouth FC Can Thank Sunderland...What a Farce!!! |
