Engine Fan

Hello everyone

Every now and then when I stop the car, the fan comes on. This is of course quite natural but it is very very loud and I was wondering if anyone had experienced a similar thing?

If it carrys on for a lenght of time, I start the engine and turn off again and it tends to stop the fan completeley. Should I do this or should I let it (the fan) turn itself off when it has completed its task?

The main thing though is really the loudness.

All the best

H.

United-States You should...

... definitely let it "finish its task"... It is important to the engine (for longevity) and engine cooling components to adequately reduce (the ravages of) heatsink in the afterrun period.

If the fan stays on what you would consider an inordinate amount of time (over 5 min. or so) however, you should have the dealer check the switch to make certain it is at 100%.

Cheers...

see thats whats weird to me too....

living in south florida, of course its constantly hot. but the fan staying on after driving has only happened a few times, and a couple times it was after like a 5 min drive or something. i drive about 25 miles to and from work every day, and only have had the fan stay on 1 time.

whats a normal amount of time for it to be on? i mean i let it run for a good 4-5 mins one time, couldnt take it anymore - its SUPER LOUD.

From the title of the thread i thought you were going to say you were a 'fan' of the engine!
