Interesting thread. If the JCW kit for the MCSa finally gets panned out and released, that'll definitely be my next car. I can wait, however, for the still-existant backlash of purists just tripping over themselves to give me a lashing for diluting the JCW name.

well, it is now well into july and still no kit . . .

and now it says on motoringfile that the factory installed kit requires manual transmission, LSD, and the JCW brakes kit. this could spell doom for the JCW MCSa, especially with the model change looming . . .

makes me a touch bummed as the assurances that the kit would be available for the MCSa was part of what sold me on the car, otherwise I might have gone for the manual or waited to test drive the Mk5 DSG GTI. oh well, could always do JCW exhaust and after-market pulley . . .

hmmm . . .

I am sadly in agreement with you.
I cannot understand why "emissions" would be different for the auto & manual versions of the JCW kit, so I have to think the claim that "US emissions" is the reason for the delay is just a lie.

Unhappy

it's frustrating....
again, i've been to JCG on tuesday, n again, mike n chris told me that BMW still won't sign off the kit despite that the kit is ready to go....
so apart from the demo mcsa work they used to have... they can't go ahead n fit any to the other cars!!!

yeah, I don't believe it's the emissions, I don't think it's transmission strength either - I've heard the 'box will take the power increase with no problem . . . I reckon the kit has ready months ago.

I think it's either tied in with the SES/recall issue or just changing strategy, ie wanting to move to factory kit install, and only doing it with brakes and LSD (liability issues?).

that demo might end up being one rare car indeed!

I'm looking on the bright side, it saves me $10k.

Guys, I got a MCSa by mistake as mine was originally a manual. Had my MCSa now only for 3 weeks and must admit, todate i'm impressed. Whilst I always wanted a manual mini and the 6spd was interesting, the 6spd steptronic gives you the best of both worlds.
I dont like the "D" mode, as even downshifting the mini wants to get into 5th too soon, which is good for consumption but bad for power. The "SD" I drive continuously and it never gets boring even in traffic in fact its real fun. So far I have averaged 9.4kms/100litres [Aussie standard], but on freeway/highway in 5th it cruises at 6.5kms/100litres which is excellent.
So I only drive in "SD" now. Given my past experience with larger Aussie performance cars, I got bored constantly changing, this MCSa I will not. So real glad so far in getting $8500 discount from dealer due to their error in my favour.
Regarding the JCW kit, which I considered. Having 17" wheels already, I had Eibachs installed to compliment the look and feel. The only thing thereafter is to potentially fit exhaust/extractors and maybe a pulley, which should satisfy my needs versus fitting a JCW kit and a lot cheaper.

yes... i think i've read about ur case somewhere b4....
i agree with u..... i fall in love with steptronic since i drove them.... won't get in details again why...
anyway....
true.... a lot of aftermarket tuning will be quicker n better.... but only if u don't want the tlc.
but having said that... i have a feeling a lot of ppl might just do that as the jcw kit for mcsa seem like an endless wait now!!!
