Offline | well.... i only have around 10 mins, so i go straight to the dual carriageway for a quick spin... first of all.... i am not sure if you have drive a manual JCW before? if not, then i have to remind u, a lot of ppl think getting the work kit mean a much faster car, if that's the case... then u will be disappointed for sure.... (here is an example!!! http://www.mini2.com/forum/general-discussion/97150-first-john-cooper-works-experience.html) it is fairly similar to the manual..... the acceleration is brilliant.... the gear change much smoother then my S auto..... the gear ratio n the software help as well as the kit i believe..... but the sound is not a great as the manual...... (that's how i feel anyway, or maybe it's a demo car only.... u'll have to switch to SD or manual for better sound) from my point of view, the main differents are... 1) i feel the work car is much smother when accelerating, respond is better as well, great for overtaking for sure!!! 2) can feel the car still wanna go on when i was doing 110miles/hr, but when i am doing 110m/h on my stock mcsa... i can feel the car need to work hard 3) the sound is not as good as the manual work... specially inside the car... but if u step on it... then it still sound great!!! hope this help... |

Offline | I've seen this referred to on MotoringFile as well, and it confuses me somewhat; how can the sound on the MCSa be different than on the MCS? Is it not the same exhaust system? ![]() |

Offline | the JCW MCS manual makes 210 bhp at 6950 rpm, whereas the JCW MCSa supposedly makes 203 bhp at 6450 rpm - I reckon loss of the 7 bhp is due to the fact that the transmission is programmed to shift up at 6450 rpm. someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the JCW software raise the rev limit for the manual? this probably isn't possible on the MCSa without revised transmission software . . . |
