A MCSa with a JCW kit sounds like heaven if you ask me. However, is it really worth the $4700 extra?

Plus the labor for installation, which makes it more like $6,000 USD. Is it worth it? That is really in the eye of the purchaser. There are other options if you don't need the JCW label. Do you want the JCW label?

question about jcw and warranty

--Okay I know that if you buy the S with the JCW added to the package your engine is covered with the mods for the full 4 years right? So what if you have the dealer add the mods later? Will your car with the JCW mods still be covered until the end of its warranty? My friend who owns a 03 S said that the dealer actually puts on ALL the JCW mods. So does it matter if you put on the JCW works say 6 months or a year later?

Any Mini dealers care to answer that question? Particulary any Mini of Honolulu people? Anybody, anyone? Bueller....Bueller.... Frye.....Frye... Frye....

Yes, the JCW kit is entirely covered under warranty from the date you have it installed whether the car is brand new or it's 6 months later. But it has to be within the 4 year/50,000 mile basic warranty period for you to take advantage of the warranty if you have any problems. I had my kit installed when the car was 4 months old and had 7000 miles on it. Now it has 37000 miles and any problems (none so far) will be covered under warranty until I hit the 50K mark as I will easily reach it before I hit 4 years. LOVE the kit, the car simply flies now! Expensive yes, but worth it? Heck yes!

I'm excited to see that the kit is going to be available for the MCSA and covered by our warranties.

Do I need the JCW logo? nope but it would be nice.

Would I put in a similar kit from mini mania if the dealer installs and warranty is still valid? HECK YES!!

I see lots of options in the future. I guess this just boils down to are you a label person, or not?

I went and looked also. I suppose by now we can rule out time zone variations.

June 1

Richard de Jong (GM at JCW) said mid-late May signoff. I interpret that to mean June 1 announcement and mid-June availability.

Hmmm ... delay after delay after delay ... so does MINI want my Money or what !??

I guess maybe they have to do a extensive testing on how well the Gearbox can handle the WORks 210 Hp ... THou our gearbox is made for Audi TT and other VW cars too .. I don't think it had to handle anywhere over 200 HP ... the TT AWD version is 225HP but its a manual ... I don't recall the beetle having over 200 HP as well ... Stock of course !

power gain similar to manual version, according to their last e-mail. I heard a claim that the JCW MCSa was quicker around the track than its manual counterpart during testing - hard to imagine that's actually the case though!

H'm, that must be a good transmission. Lots of favorable reviews of the company that built it.

I believe that there are people who can shift a manual faster that the MCSa can shift in sport mode, but I can't, and I don't think that they can do it for an extended drive.

I love having no clutch replacements to look forward to. Actually, my last stick shift car, a Toyota, gave me 135,000 miles, and had the original clutch in it when I sold it. I drive like a Wus. Too many years paying for my own cars.

I am thinking pretty hard about the works package. Just so I can drive slow down the street with the Works badge displayed!
