Offline | Order the MCSa with JCW Engine Upgrade, Aerodynamic Kit and R90 Alloy Wheels from my local dealer at end of November last year for the March delivery this year. Got emails and phone calls form sales said the car was coming on very well, except JCW kit which is still waiting for the go ahead from Mini HQ. They asked me to pick up car without JCW kit as the delay will be up to a month at least. When I went to the local dealer to pick up the car on Friday, I found out no Aerodynamic Kit and R90 Alloy Wheels fitted however JCW exhaust already in. They told me they are sorry for the missing Aero Kit and wheels. They are going to put them and will hand over the car on next Tuesday instead. Only when I return later that I found out that they were uninstalling some JCW Engine Upgrade components (which include the exhaust) from the car. They say that the components were fitted in preparation for the Engine and needed to be taken off as it is not compatible with the engine it has at the moment. (If I had not noticed the missing kit and wheels, I'd have driven it away without them taken off!) I am angry about this mess that they have caused, especially the JCW Engine Upgrade. I really don't like the Upgrade Kit being put on and off for many times as it affects the fit. Now I am thinking about rejecting the car and the Mini manager did agree to order a new car for me with same specifications but it won't deliver till July. He also agreed to give me a free loan car for the time being and will pay for my insurance. What else should I ask for compensation for the inconvenience and time that I have wasted? |

Offline | What a story! Are you kidding? It sounds to me as though you have negotiated a very satisfactory settlement. Well done! Can you trust these guys this time? I might consider purchase from another outlet. |

Offline | I didn't end up rejecting my MINI, but had problems when I showed up too. Grey Seats (ordered black), AUX not installed (ordered), no boot mat (ordered), dealer sticker on the back (asked them 3 times not to), scratches on the roof. I took it back a week later to have them fix stuff. It took them 5 days, but eventually got them to: Grey seats - Swapped AUX input - Free Boot mat - Free Dealer sticker - removed Scratches - Buffed out. As far as the JCW stuff, don't be too hard on them. I was talking to my MA, and he said that he was told by their regional MINI rep that the JCW would be available on the MCSa, "No problem, totally compatible" last year. He has 3 on order that he now has to tell the owners that it's a "no-go" for the time being. He was really frustrated with the lack of communication from MINI generally. It sounds like you got a great settlement so far on your stuff. I wouldn't argue with that at all. --Jay |

Offline | The point is "Modifying at factory is always better than at deal shop". You can just tell them you need another one instead. The dealer breached the contract. You got the right to reject and get another one. |

Offline | Go to East Preston! Hi, I'm new to this site, and have just read about your situation. Just over a month ago, I booked in and took my standard (ish) Cooper S To John Cooper Works in East Preston. I combined it with a long weekend in Brighton. The experience was fantastic. These guys are so enthusiastic and knowledgeable, even giving me a tour of the workshops, etc. The car was ready earlier than they said it would be, they provided a free courtesy car (Cooper) while mine was being worked on. As it doesnt save you any money to get the kit fitted prior to delivery, I would certainly recommend you take delivery of the car, enjoy the drive to Brighton, then enjoy the drive home even more! They will of course supply you a brand new car fully built, etc now, so why not give them a ring. I've got mine booked in again for the JCW seats to be fitted at the end of April, and cant wait to go back there. Anyway, hope this helped. Cheers |

Offline | What a wierd thing to have happen! At least you're able to get a fresh car . . . When I contacted JCW, they told me that the kit for the MCSa would be released in the US/UK in april and would offer similar power gains to the kit for the manual. My guess would be that the transmission needs to be substantially reprogrammed to handle the increased torque, which is probably a complicated process requiring a lot of testing. It would be nice if they gave people waiting for the kit some slightly more specific answers. Good luck! |

Offline | You can't get the kit fitted at the factory so how has the dealer breached its contract? They've messed up by fitting part of the kit and then taken it off but they haven't breached a contract cos they will fit ot when its available. They've made a fantastic offer with the loaner though, take it! Missing my MINI Loving my Beemer |

Offline | That sounds pretty fair. I rejected my S for steering problems. I was allowed to keep it, once they fixed it, loan car in the mean time, and then swap it (at no cost) for the new S. It all worked out in the end. ![]() |
