Sick of my Mini 'racing' all the time

OK, this is doing my head in now and I wanted to know whether anyone else with a Cooper CVT had experienced this.

My Mini constantly 'races' - if I'm anywhere between 35mph and 70mph, the engine will race and the rev counter hovers just before the red marks (sorry for the non-technical description.....playing the girl card on that one!)

I mentioned this at my last service and they 're-set' the CVT software and it seemed to cure it for a few weeks, but I'm back with the high revving again.

I'm going to mention it again at my next service, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same and managed to fix it permanently?

Thanks!

You should definitely call for a service appointment, and get it in for diagnosis.

Your description implies that the engine is running near redline very often, without pressing the accelerator. Even steady speed cruising? Even in town? Are you in Drive?

I would like to know how the 4000rpm limit was chosen, because we were surprised to discover that Reverse was limited to 4000rpm (exactly 20mph). It's interesting that Park and Neutral are protected at 4000rpm (that seems smart to me).
