Help! CVT or Manual

I have ordered a Cooper CVT scheduled to go into production the 1st week of July. I've driven a manual for years and thought this time around I would go with the ease of an automatic for city driving (didn't even test drive the manual, stupid me! ) Anyway, now hearing the the CVT is going out of production next year I'm wondering if I should switch my order to the 5 speed? Any thoughts? Anybody out there that loves the CVT and do you really get more power out of the manual transmission? Thanks for helping a newbie out!

I have a 5 speed Cooper and it's definitely FUN! I have heard mostly good things about the CVT. It's a personal choice really...whichever you choose will be great

the first MINI i drove was a CVT Cooper (didn't know how to drive a manual yet) and it was an absolute blast. i also drove a 5-spd Cooper several months later and thought the fun factor was much higher than the CVT. plus, the CVT is very strange to drive because it doesn't shift, it will take some getting used to. there is nothing wrong with the CVT, but my personal preference would be the 5-spd. in the end, do what you want. go and test drive the 5-spd before you decide tho
