Removing the CVT shift knob

I bought a new shift and handbrake boot set. The instructions I found say the knob will come off simply with a hard (but very HARD) pull, that there is no mechanical fastener. Does anyone know if that is true? I don't want to end up just having a good workout.

but watch out coz he also hit himself in the face when he was doing it!!
just a warning oh and it looked like it was on pretty hard coz he was trying pretty hard to get it off...probably why he got a bruise straight away!!!

Hey Mr. Wonder! Can you give some info on the shift and boot set you've bought? I'd like to know! Thanks!

Pictures of my new shift and handbrake boot

Thanks for the confirmation Cooper76. Here they are.

I bought the set in from Max Motorsports in Hong Kong for about US$100, but found it at Redlinegoods.com for US$60

Installation instructions are provided at Redlinegoods. They are essentially accurate, but I do have a few things to add:

1. The knob did come out with a hard pull
2. My shift boot was not really held by plastic posts, more just glued in. So I superglued the new one in as well.
3. When putting the know back in, be sure to to push hard and hear a click to clip it back in.
4. I had to wiggle quite a bit to get the handbrake plastic frame out.
5. The handbrake boot was also just glued in.

It look about 30 minutes, but well worth the effort!

hmm...your shift knob looks almost the same as the stock shift knob...

was wondering, have you guys seen the Momo A/T shift knob with the button on top? will that work on our CVT Minis?
