Offline | Hello everyone. I currently have only have a deposit for an MCS at one dealership(Baron MINI in Kansas, it is only 1 hour away from where I live). They told me 9-12 Months, so April-June 2002 for delivery. Has anyone here found a good dealership, I am willing to fly anywhere in the US to get my S sooner. I do not want to pay more than MSRP, although MUST BUY OPTIONS might be ok depending on what they are, Baron makes you buy $1000 dollars worth of stuff including the CD Changer. I also want to spec it myself. I know I am asking for alot, maybe even the impossible, but any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot for just reading this post. ![]() It's MINI Time! |

Offline | Hank Aaron in Atlanta supposedly sells for MSRP but there's also supposedly a similarly-long wait. I've heard the Memphis dealership is good. You might want to check www.minicooperonline.com - it's a U.S.-based forum and there's a thread(s) on it concerning this subject. | MINI2 Senior | Your experience is fairly typical, based on what I've read. The wait time especially is not atypical. Demand is much higher than supply, and dealers have no control over supply. The dealer will naturally try to cater to those with less patience, as they can be expected to pay more. But if you're willing to wait, you should resist the unwanted dealer options if you have no need for them. In most cases, the dealer will acquiesce if you follow the three P's: polite, persistent and patient. |

| Loves the Fuzzy One | Checkered Flag MINI Checkered Flag, in Virginia Beach, VA, has a very short waiting list for an MCS. Bad news is that, although they do charge MSRP, there is a dealer required option package for a cost of $1700. It's for things like CD changer, alarm system, floor mats, etc. They also add $350 to your price for dealer service. Good news is that they have plenty of cars, and the manager, Richard, is very nice and will keep his word on a deal. ![]() Global Moderator |

| MINI2 Regular | Roadshow Mini in Memphis TN is selling at MSRP. I am not sure what the wait is if you spec a car. They also have cars avaialbe with dealer add ons. CD Changer, mats and valve stem covers for example. Nice people to deal with. 901 365 2584 ask for Dorian Geraci, new salesperson nice too ![]() Gary from Memphis – Chili Red S White top SP/PP delivered 7/30/2002 |

| Dead Man's Curve? Feh. | You might try Towne Mini in Buffalo, NY. I signed up on "The List" before they opened so my mid-June ordered S is expected in mid-August. I've heard of others ordering from Towne with a reasonable wait. They sell at MSRP but do add a $595 "TLC Package" consisting of floor mats (choice of rubber or cloth), paint sealant, hand wax job, and a few other little goodies. Esay to deal with, no problems. The salesperson I'm dealing with (Doug) responds quickly to emails, etc. Good luck. |

Offline | Based upon the Cooper S that Car and Driver magazine tested in the latest issue (which was sourced from Towne), they also add a crappy dealer emblem sticker on the back too. + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

| Dead Man's Curve? Feh. | They add a white Towne decal as well as a license plate frame. I've alredy told the salesguy that I don't want the decal on my car when it arrives - a plate frame can be tossed or even repainted. I was told no problem, that a lot of customers don't want / get the decal. |

Offline | Desert Mini (Las Vegas) requires you to buy (until demand falls off) a dealer "Value Package" for $2495.00 Chrome wheels (don't get to keep old wheels), floormats and a cd player. Jacksonville dealer is $1995.00 over sticker. The Mini in Orlando area has been asked by Mini NOT to sell car to out of state buyers. If you register car in Florida it is ok. |

Offline | The wait at Baron may be less than they tell you because some people will drop off of the list. That was my experience anyway. I was originally told December and my S is due to leave England Saturday. You can put money down in multiple places to increase your odds. Offline | Ditto For Towne Sorry MINIJewel, just don't have any experience in the midwest MINI market besides Classic who has required dealer "packages" that start at $1000 Anyway, I support Towne, I worked with Greg, the other salesperson (motoring advisor) and he was quite useful. I can attest to having a Towne car with no sticker and oddly about a month after I got the car and was bored the Towne license plate frames disappeared easily too (they're cheapish plastic), so its very stealth. The $599 package above MSRP seems to be fairly reasonable given the market and Buffalo/Rochester isn't an amazingly popular place so I don't think the wait would be excessive. Try them at 716 504-MINI and see what you get. They also are conviently about 2 miles from the Buffalo Airport. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | Talk to Martha Crosby at Rick Hendricks MINI in Charleston, SC. They did still have some on the lot and were quoting not to long time for ordering. Also, they do not bump the prices above MSRP or required buying all kinds of extra stuff. I bought mine from them, off the lot, and love it. Nice to be right here by the port of entry! A link to the dealership, and Martha's email, are on my MINI's page linked below in my sig... Offline | North Scottsdale Mini had me on their list for 14 months to get my prespec MCS DS/W. I was asked, "What color?" and that was it. It had the options I wanted, but I did not get to pick little things. They got MRSP from me, but I added some things on my own (window tint, floor mats, etc.) All in all the most reasonable interaction to get a very much in demand car! I remember in 1977 when my wife was waiting for the first ever Honda Accord! The Honda Dealers were real gangsters! Someone wrote a book about how they gouged US consumers!!! Alan B |
