Beware Checkered Flag of VA Beach

I've been hesitant to post this but since I confirmed something recently I feel I should.

We live in Washington State and so there should have been no problem to complete the transaction from here and have the car shipped or have someone else pick it up. It happens all the time, no big deal. They said it was VA law that the purchaser would need to go to VA to sign the documents. They even said they had checked with their lawyer and were sure. What a hassle and come to find out they OUT AND OUT LIED to us. Unbelievable. Did they think we would never find out the truth? Were we supposed to go to great lengths to confirm what they told us? They must get a kickback for pushing their own financing since this is the only reason I can think of for wanting us back there to have another go, which they did. The whole time I don't think they ever returned our calls either, we had to call them each time. Getting the car home ended up costing twice as much as it should have with double plane fares & hotels.

It's a good thing the car is so great that everything else is a minor annoyance.

Trust car dealers as far as you can throw 'em.

'02 MCS, Electric Blue/White Top, 17" S-Lites.

Ouch.. Sorry to hear about your problems with your dealer. Luckily all dealers are not the same.

Checkered Flag should be avoided.

I too had a poor experience with them. They are deceptive in many ways--and completely ruined the experience of buying a MCS for me.

I do not live in the VA Beach area and was working out of town with them, as well.

Due to them, I've actually decided to put my purchase of a MCS on hold.

Wink Yep, same thing here

I too came from out of town to buy from Checkered Flag MINI.

They made me drive the 7 miles from my home in Norfolk to sign the financing papers, would not come to my house to do it.

Then, to add insult to injury, the wife and I had to drive back the 7 miles to pick up the car. THEY WOULD NOT DELIVER IT TO MY HOUSE. I am just beside myself. You would think that they were in the business of doing business at their place of business. The gall of some people.

When we picked up the MINI, they had the audacity to wash and wax it, Change the side repeater lights to clear at no charge to me, and install a set of floor mats.

Next time I am driving to Seattle to pick up my new car, where they really know how to treat a customer....

Hey Richard, thanks for the great service. Hi Colleen, Hi Lindsay!

Anyone dealing with them should also know they try to cram dealer options down your throat. I had asked the full price of the car two times and when I came up on the list they tried to add their motoring pack. Well after some frank discussion they dropped it and sold me the car at the MSRP plus that dealer prep fee you shouldn't have to pay....Now I'm still reeling from the car damage after I had it in to fix a rattle. The passenger seat still is not right. We operated the seat for two months without a problem then it was broken while in for service.Don't know what to do,don't even want to touch the seat.

I can agree to the way Checkered Flag crams their dealer options down your throat. I tried pinning them down several times on the final price for my S. After printing out my price sheet on my car from MINIUSA.com I gave it to them and said that should be the price of the car. They kept telling me that they would sell the S to me for MSRP. Then when the final price was given to me I noticed they so conveniently tacked on a "motoring" package at a cost of $1,750. I told them it was not an option I selected and their reponse was "sorry, but we do it for all the cars." They still have not agreed to remove this ridiculous dealer add on. So, either it gets taken off or I do what other people in my area have done and go elsewhere to get my MINI.
