Angry Can't believe the attitude of staff

I've had my mini for just over a year. Many problems with things breaking but today it decided to overheat and bellow out steam whilst driving at motorway speeds. So after waiting over 2 hours for the rescue service I went to my dealer (Elvet). I was refused a rental car which I was told was available and then I got to meet the aftersales manager....

When I told him of all the major problems I've had with the mini and asked what re-assurance he can offer me that the car will not fail me again he gave me the most amazing answer I've ever heard.

He said: yeah it looks as though you got a 'bad' mini. If you can afford it you should go see a salesperson now and buy another mini!!!!!????

I used to support Elvet fully but no more.

Anyone else ever heard anything quite as extraodinary from an aftersales person?

Preston Hall Sales mailed me with an offer I could not refuse on my one year old mini. So intrigued I went along with this letter and was offered £9000 against a new cooper, (I'm going back to 2002) you can imagine my reply. As I was disappearing out of the door I heard

"you will not get a better offer anywhere in the country"

Some months later I was unfortunate enough to write off my Mini and was offered by my insurance company £100 more than I paid for the car New, the car was 18 months old.
Sales guy is still there and often wondered if he was taken up on this fine offer from some gullable fool.

Unfortunately, there are people like that at dealerships. I have walked out of a dealership before because of the way we were treated. When we lived in Alabama, we would take our Buick to a local dealer for service. When it came time to buy another, we were given the high pressure sales tactics. So we walked out and bought a car in the next town. When we took it to the local dealer for service, the service manager asked why we had not bought from them. We told them the story. He looked towards the show room and shook his head. We did continue to get good service from him all of the same.
