Offline | Main dealer Part Ex values? What has been peoples experience of main dealer part ex values when buying a Cherished Mini? Do they offer anything over book trade values? Hoping to sell privately [see classifieds] but may have to part ex! not even sure how to get a fair idea of valuation before doing the deal. Are Parkers values any good? Any advice appreciated... |

| Damned | Bit confused about what you are trying to buy in PX for your 2006 MINI .. another MINI or something different ?? Only if you are going to be buying something REALLY expensive from them Generally, but they dont take into account any extra`s like Chilli / Satnav etc. Check out the nearest spec BMW Cherished & deduct 2K for a private sale on a 2006 model ![]() In da Wud |

| FINALLY had a haircut!!! | It is very rare for dealers to offer 'over book' prices for cars, even though the guide values are based on cars only having metallic paint and air conditioning on top of the Base/Salt/Pepper/Chili category that each model is broken down into; but it's worth shopping around as some are better than others and variations can be frankly astonishing! Remember that, when part-exchanging a car, you are being offered a trade price from a company that is looking to sell your car for a profit, but at least they take the car 'as is' and will save you on advertising and any reconditioning costs. Also, a dealer that is selling you another car will always give you more than one that is just buying the car for stock. Parkers Guide is nowhere near as accurate in showing what people are actually paying for cars as the 'Trade Bible' Glass's Guide, but will give you a fairly good idea. Another way to find out what to advertise it for is to look at similar cars on MINI Cherished, Auto Trader and PistonHeads, for example; but remember, if they are still being advertised, they may be too expensive! |

Offline | [quote=Restyle;2883037]Bit confused about what you are trying to buy in PX for your 2006 MINI .. another MINI or something different ?? It will be a nearly new MCSC at around £19k or so... it just strikes me they win all ends up! Sell you a new car [no discount on Mini - usually], offer you a poor part ex when you buy another one from them... again at top dollar! Thanks for the help though. |

Offline | To answer my own question... I was offered slightly over the book part ex and managed to negotiate discount off the windscreen price and other extra's in to the bargain. Happy with the deal :-) Alistair at Elms Stansted was very friendly and professional. |

Offline | Sorry to bring up this topic again.. Im fairly frustrated with the whole Part Ex MINI Cherised thing. Yes im trying to sell privately but looking at getting a 16k MINI S JCW - 05 Plate. However ive tried about 5 dealers (different brands) and there prices have been the same (near enough anyway) and nearly all of them said they had no movement on 'the window' price. This leaves me in a crap situation as they wont reduce the window price to compensate. Whats the best method to push them up on price? Do they log these prices somewhere so another dealership knows what to offer, and not undercut another dealership? Because its starting to seem like it. Any tips on what to say/do to get a better trade in value. Also whats the max i could on pushing them up? E.g. £500? £100? Thanks ![]() Sig Coming Soon.. |

| Damned | From info in your classifieds, I see you are trying to trade in an 06 plate nicely specced Cooper which you bought new for £16,500 & which you trying to sell for £14,000. {Just checked Cherished site & similar spec 14-15K !!} Now if this car was on the Cherished site, I would expect it to have a window price of around the £14K you are presently asking for. The cherished dealer would have course already added their mark-up into this price, which for a 2006 model would be around £2K. So by these figures, they would logically offer around offering you around 12K PX, but as they always like to shock the PX`er senseless, I guess it would be nearer 10.5K. Your options :- Keep your nicely specced cooper for a few more years, its less than a year old & has like all cars less than a year old, just taken its biggest hit in depreciatrion. {At least when trying to PX it} Have a look at some standard Cooper S in the M2 Classifieds, they can be easily brought up close to JCW performance spec for around £600 a conversion. {IMO the £4000 JCW engine conversion was vastly overpriced & over-rated & just doesnt hold its value when buying used} ![]() In da Wud |
