My dealer listened!

My new (ish) Mini went to the dealer again today. 2nd warranty claim in 12 weeks. It's the same old complaint with dirt on the inside of the drivers window after you wind it up and down. Despite them having the car all day, and doing a lovely job on the valet (better than the day they delivered it) when you wind the window down and up again, it's wet on the inside. Still.

This time, after a debate between at least 5 of the staff, the service manager came out to look at the car and agreed, it wasn't right. He listened to my comments on the gearbox noise, badly fitting tailgate, the torque steer and a whole range of comments that add up to my overall disappointment.

But instead of giving me corporate *rap, he admitted that a few cars had already gone through their workshop with similar problems. Thanked me for the feedback and then promised to put it right.

Watch this space.

Incidentally, does the car have a system which records the maximum speed you achieve so the dealer can see it?

If it does, just tell him that that system is faulty too

Glad to hear your problems may soon be sorted.

well if it does you could always say it's been on a rolling road or a track to check wind noise or your torque steer problemes!

Good luck with getting them sorted out

I wouldn't be surprised if the car does record top speed (I design engine management systems btw) but its not likely that a dealer can access that info, its normally only available to staff at the company HQ and even then only after an accident or big warranty claim
