I managed to get £485 off an mcs and got them to throw in a set of rubber mats as well. Dont know if I did well or not, everyone kept telling me you couldn't get a penny off so I was a bit determined. Due in mid June - cant wait>>>: Last edited by DuncanF; May 20th, 2007 at 04:33 PM. | First MOD I bought in 03 I got a free MINI keyring, then my girlfriend got her MOD and got a keyring and a thermal mug, when I complained I didn't get one, the salesman got me one. When I got my 2nd MOD in 05 I got a soft toy MINI which my girlfriends nephew aquired, on the 8th May 07 when I collected my MCD I got precisely... NOTHING! The sales lass said they don't give anything away now. On top of all that they tried to sell me GAP insurance at £300, cheapest i've seen online is £160!! They wanted £120 for a chrome fuel cap I paid £65 for, and £160 for a Cooper S Spoiler I paid £60 for, both brand new off ebay! Come the revolution all BMW/MINI dealers will be lined up against the wall and shot at dawn! |

They were offereing a lower finance rate on R56 Minis but that has probably finished now. The best was to get a discount is spec one up and then walk away and think about it for a week or two. Then go back to the dealer a couple of times and still dont make a decision. Mini dealers are used to people walking into thir showroom and and just wanting one of their cars and ordering it there and then. If you play it cool and actually make the prats work for a living then they may try and sell you a car and give you incentives to order one. A friend of mine unwittingly did this and was offered a better deal than I got! Try and get as much dealer fit stuff thrown in (spot lights/arm rest/i-pod link) as these are things they wont get into trouble with HQ for discounting on.

Anywho, I didnt say all - I was referring to the ones at Mini. Admittedly, some are better that others although I tend to find the younger 'executives' better to deal with - Sales staff with any kind of managerial position, in my experience (judgement on 3 separate Mini dealers I have had the pleaseure of dealing with) are most definitely prat-like. In fact, the last mini I purchased. (2006 R53) I bought from a local Volvo dealer where I was, believe it or not, treated like a human being by the salesman and they gave me over £1000 of the already keenly priced ticked price!! Looking at the Mini Cherished website - the closest car to the spec I bought was over £2k more - My local Mini dealer was prepared to give me £250 off the price of just one R53 that they were having trouble selling. In their eyes I was geting the deal of the century!

I specced one exactly the same off the internet. and this showed a discount of a couple of hundred pounds, the car would come from a main dealer, miles away from me as it happened but they didn't know that. I basically went back to my local dealer and said I was going to spend nigh on £20k and did he want to do a deal or should I go elsewhere to someone who would. I said I would place an order that day if he could better what I had been offered. He said yes, I went back in and that was basically that he just overwrote their computer with Special Allowance £485.00. It was pretty painless really. Since then they have been excellent - they ring every week to tell me it is still on schedule and I look forward to it in a month. Just hope I dont experience some of the problems others are reporting...happy haggling to all..

I shopped around three local dealers. Ended up getting an extra £1800 part ex on my 2005 MCS. GAP with £100 knocked off. Much reduced finance rate, actually decreased my monthly payments. 2 Bottles of champagne on Delivery and 2 genuine mini keyrings. I have nothing but praise for Sytner of Nottingham. Have recently moved to Wolverhampton though and have used the local dealer here for the recalls and they are completely useles. Keep clear of Benham of Wolverhampton.

Sorry... I thought they cost less over there? ![]() I got a Mellow Yellow S, 6-speed manual, sport package --- the sport package specs changed over here. It's got rear foglights, front foglights, dsc, HID headlamps, cloth seats, and the 3-spoke steering wheel was extra... Out the door for $23K Safety fast, Bill
