Offline | Time and time again it amazes me that MINI dealers often get funny with loan/courtesy cars. Are you taking it back to dealer you got it from? I've not had the need for a Woodmans loan car yet but I really do expect (demand even!) that if anything happened I could have one for as short or as long a period as needs be! My own insurance helps though, in that I'm covered for cars loaned to me whilst mine is in for service/repair, but I wouldn't expect the dealer to ask any fee on top of that - especially if the car was in for warranty or recall work. Some dealers are brilliant with a no hassle deal for courtesy cars. We've an aging Yaris, new from Harry Feeney Toyota in Blackpool, and even 7 years down the line there's absolutely no quibble that we can have a 'free' car for service work etc - even though the car is well out of warranty. | You are number 6 | I'm always amazed that people expect something for nothing. Do you really expect dealers to have enougfh spare cars standing around to hand out to every person that takes a car in for servicing, they would have to increase their service costs by a huge amount to make it viable. If your car is in for warranty work then there is more of an argument that the dealer should supply a replacement. |

Offline | Well we've have to agree to disagree on that score then! I certainly don't see it as getting something for nothing. I see it as the cost of keeping me on the road is built into the price of the car and the price of any service work. Why should you spend £20,000 or so on a new car for it to be off the road for a while (see R56 faults/fixes forum) and then be expected to use public transport or whatever or pay even more for a hire car? IN the case of warranty claims the manufacturer has fouled up, so the dealer, as the manufacturers representatives, should bend over backwards to keep the customer sweet. If cars are made to a satisfactory standard (and hence not constantly needing return trips to dealers for fixing) then there's no reason why any decent sized dealer shouldn't have enough cars in stock. I'm normally against the want something for nothing brigade, but I'm prepared to make a stand on this issue!! |
