Thumbs down Sytner Sunningdale (Ascot) - Service Dept getting worse

Hi

When I got my first MINI at the beginning of 2006 I took it to Sytner who at the time were in Sunningdale. I was really impressed with the service I got from them. The car I had bought was a total lemon despite the fact it was a cherished MINI (from Knights in Newcastle - who are TRULY atrocious) and Sytner were very thorough in checking the vehicle over for me and sorting out all the work that needed to be done. That work was done to a very high standard.

However, Sytner Sunningdale have moved to new premises in Ascot and I have to say since then their service has gone right downhill. My car has been in a few times and they just don't seem to be able to get thngs right.

Some dappy woman had driven into the side of my car so it had to go into the bodyshop and when I took the car in I asked them to check the brakes as well as they felt spongy and unresponsive (I had thought that maybe there were no pads left on there). They did the bodywork, but when I got the car back the brakes were no different - they had forgotten to check them.

So it had to be booked back in again. It turned out when it had had it's brake fluid service a month before that that they hadn't bled the system properly - hence the sponginess.

But going back to the bodywork repair - the drivers door had to be replaced and when they have re-fitted it they have not fitted it properly, so the window doesn't shut properly, so when you're on a motorway it sounds like you've got a Force 10 gale coming in through the window.

So I have been trying to get the car booked back in with them since June - and only yesterday did the chap from the bodyshop dept call me back.

The car has gone in today - and we have our 3rd courtesy car from them. It seems that they are totally incapable of giving anybody a courtesy car with any petrol in. And because they only give you a MINI One you don't know what range is left in there and the nearest petrol station is about 5 miles away. I complained the last time, and when we booked the car in for this morning I said please give us a courtesy car with some petrol in - and guess what - the petrol light is on in it.

I had a call after the bodywork was done, from a customer service chap at MINI who wanted to know how the service was etc etc. I told him then that they are really bad at returning calls, giving feedback, doing what you ask them to do and giving you cars with petrol in. It would seem that none of that has changed...

So, AVOID the Service dept at Sytner Sunningdale / Ascot

Angry Synter Sunningdale/Ascot Service dept.

Couldn't agree more. They have really gone down hill since moving their service dept to Ascot. I'm currently sitting here with a courtesy mini with just fumes in the tank. (not really very "courteous" for a courtesy car). AND its not the first time either.

So every time you're left with a car, usually with no sat-nav so you can see the esimated milesage remaining, and no idea where the nearest petrol station is.

Still, hopefully they can get my repair right *this* time.

I'll stick up for them, mine's currently in there having some warranty work done on the steering. I agree they've tailed off a bit since they moved, but also bear in mind that they're settling in to new premises and might have a few teething issues to sort out. It's still the same people there as there was in Ascot

As for the fuel issue, you could easily have looked at the fuel situation (the first thing I check in any hire or courtesy car) and then gone back inside and asked them where the nearest fuel station is, or even had a little moan, I'm sure they would have helped.

And to be completely fair to them, they have discovered, diagnosed and fixed a problem with my supercharger snapping that two other dealerships have been completely unable to identify. There was a stone in the pulley that was shredding the belt. Sytner didn/'t even have the vehicle in for that particular problem, but they've sorted it out for me regardless.

A big thumbs up from me, I've been using them for 5 years now, and all being well I'll continue to use them.

Thumbs up from me too

Only once have I had a problem with a courtesy car - one was not booked for me plus I did not have my insurance certificate with me. A quick conversation with sales and all was sorted.

Parts department have been great, they have sorted out all of my special requests for GP bits etc.

Back in there on Friday for first oil service under TLC - just booked in 20 minutes ago, phone was answered in less than 3 rings.

I will keep using them
