Pre-Warranty Checks & Dealer MOTs

My MCS is coming up to its 3rd birthday & to celebrate its going to have to endure its 1st ever MOT ritual

I had a letter from my MINI dealer last month asking me if I wanted them to do the MOT
{£55- against an independants av. price of £39-}
Now, I was planning to use an independant garage and ask them to pick up anything that could possibly be put right under my last month of warranty, but also mentioned in their letter was this "Pre-Warranty Check" for £35-
To do both MOT & Pre-Warranty check the dealer will offer a discount & do both for £75- inclusive.

Has anyone any experiance if the pre-warranty check is actually worth it, as it seems to me most dealers would tend NOT to highlight anything that might be expensive for them to fix, & may just fob people off saying their car is OK ?

Also attached is the Air-CON service sheet they sent for both Freshening up the system (£49-}, & the Arctic Blast - drain & refill {£69-}
Do they really somehow give the system an Ultrasonic Clean or do they just spray an Aerosol in ?
Either Way, Dont think I use it enough to bother with either of those

Decided to go with my Dealers offer of an MOT & Pre-Warranty Check
It sailed through the MOT- & so it should with only 17K on the clock, but I was a litle dissapointed in thoughoughness - or Not of the Pre-Warranty Check - which according to the attached paperwork just seems to be a Routine Maintenance check.

I guess I was expecting a pre-warranty check to go over EVERY aspect of the car, actually looking for faults on EVERY part & system that had either already gone wrong or was showing signs of imminent failure. - Like what you might expect an independent vehicle examiner to do if you employed them to inspect a second hand car before any possible purchase.

I actually had to point out a warranty fault that I had found on general inspection last week - A faulty Headlight washer pump, which when it does properly work only does so at set intervals under the control of the computer.
This will now be replaced under warranty next week, but would NOT have been found under either the MOT or Pre-Warranty checks.

Other than that, Ive no problem with my dealership who`s service included pickup & delivery to & from my home on the day. - And they also carried out the TLC Brake Fluid change, which apparantly I`m told should be done every 3 years irrespective of the mileage.

For the future information anyone else with a Rydale/ Rybrook MINI dealership, apparantly if i`d actually got around to "activating" the "MYMINICARD" service card they sent me earlier in the year then according to its conditions, it would have entitled me to a FREE MOT !!
Maybe next year

I took my old R53 MCS in for its first MOT at the dealers as they said 2bring it in before the 3 years so we can replace any faulty bits under warranty" & they replaced one of the suspension arms which was faulty. So take it to the dealer.

Must be nice to have dealer who didn't just take your money and forget all about you. I just had my first MOT done, and it wasn't at Blue Bell MINI in Crewe.
