Thumbs down robertshaw racing mugs

robertshaw racing boldon tyne and wear dont touch them with a barge pole

heres a tale

i have a cooper s with the hartge 210bhp conversion,
bought 2nd hand just doesnt seem right very poor acceleration in 1st average through the gears
infact feels slower than standard
rang 3 weeks ago related the problem they said bring it in on friday after 2 pm they would drive it and give me a day to book it in alls well so far

take a day off work turn up at 1.50 doors locked rang up no reply waited till 4pm incase they were on a test drive went home

rang on monday "oh sorry we forgot"

aranged another visit two weeks later turn up they drive the car and agree its down on power

say theyll run a diagnostics as it may have gone into "economy mode" or it could be this and could be that but they should sort it.... all sounds plausable so i book it in for the following tuesday

tuesday comes along.......... the mrs drops it off they forgot its coming
i ring at 2pm still looking at it ...ring at 4 still looking at it... ring at 4.30.. cars ready to collect

wife picks it up i speak to gary he says hasnt a clue whats wrong with it and says"i should book it into a dealer for a diagnostic" ask why he didnt do this he just mumbled
then he says "i should check the air filter and plugs" i explained that i had just changed them at the weekend but surelly its the first thing they should have checked
he then suggests sending my ECU to his freind down south to re-map when asked why if its allready done he had no reply
then he said he could strip it down and look at things but because the EML light was not on he did not know what to do

WHAT A COMPLETE PLANK AND TIME WASTER WOULD LET HIM FIX MY WIFES HOOVER

for a modern garage it was like going back in time

Its cheap and simple to fit. Take about 30-40 mins to do if you have an haynes manual...even quicker if you are a proper tech

Loui is right it sounds like its a boost issue. If it was ECU then you'd have lights on the dash or the faultcode reader would pick something up. Oh and if the MINI goes into economy/limp home mode it does about 40mph in 5th or 6th after taking about 2 miles af hard driving through the gears to get there. I will not go over 2k rpm! ... so it can't be that and the EML/Check engine would be on

Have you had this problem sorted mate? not heard from you in a while.

Nath may be right and Hartge might be the best people to speak to...

One of my mates who works in RobertShaw is a member on hear, he's a great mechanic and knows alot about the MINI and has a Highly tuned MCS himself, hes done all the work on my car, Pulley, crank pulley, stop bar, remap, brakes and all is fine.

Great garage in my respect.

He has a driver in the MINI Challenge and they are doing great.

Found out why they were not there when you were waiting mate, spoke to my friend who works there.

The lad who was suppose to be at the garage to work on your car was the only person left there as the team went on a Challenge weekend, the boss was not in and he was left on his own, he didnt check the book to see what was booked in and went home

Apperntly he does this when they go on a challenge weekend even tho he shouldnt, not really profesional but i think he got a talking to about it!

The ECU might need reflashing with Hartge data. Some dealers are know to wipe off maps from specialist companies due to updates and the like. It could be so many things making your S seem slow so, would be a good idea to see another specialist

Robertshaw racing excellent service!

Robertshaw racing in my experience has been fantastic!, they couldnt have been more helpful and provided a great service. I use this garage all the time for my mini cooper s they are a professional race team who definately know their stuff!

As for the miserable so and so who says dont touch them, dont listen he talks rubbish and can certainly spin a few!....mayb he is the plank!!!!

Robertshaw Racing employee by any chance m.i.n.i.m.o.u.s.e?

Just think, if you hadn't felt the need to sign up just to defend them, this 7 month dead thread would probably never have resurfaced!

sounds like first time unluckily bad experiance.

Ive had no problems with them, Had my lowering springs fitted by them and new brake hoses, pads and brake and clutch fluid changed with them.

Their work its top notch!
