Offline | I used to get completely free courtesy cars when I had a Daewoo but then they suddenly decided that we would have to pay for the insurance which they said was becoming the norm. With all of my three MINIs I have had to pay for the courtesy car insurance unless they have cocked up and had to change me into something else in which case they have paid for it. I'm with direct line and they don't charge me unless the courtesy vehicle is in a different group , if it is it usually costs around £7.00 ![]() |

Offline | Hmm interesting!! Ive got a courtesy car booked for when my car goes in on the 12th so that I can get back over to work (12 miles) The receptionist told me that insurance was covered when I asked, but she never mentioned a charge for me having the car?! ![]() Think i'm gonna have to call them to check tomorrow! I dont see why I should have to pay as its warrenty, but by the same token I dont want to get stranded over there, nor do I want someone else driving my car! ![]() |

Offline | Call 'em for the reg number of the loaner, call your insurance company for free 24-hour cover on it and tell them to fax the certificate to the dealer. Job done. |

Offline | Just phoned my service dept. - I wont be charged for the Courtesy Car and Insurance is covered. They just need to see my full driving licence and job done ![]() The only thing I would get a charge for (unless I replace what I use - which I will) is the fuel, which to me is fair enough ![]() |

| Hangin at the Krusty Krab | My local dealer (Stratstone Derby) offer free loan cars, but you have to provide the insurance. I was told that this was because their insurance company increased their excess to £30,000......I can understand why ! When I was with RAC insurance, they were going to charge me £75 to cover a loan car (a MINI One) even though my car was not on the road and the loan car was a lower group / value. It's the admin charge that gets you......I'm now with Adrian Flux who want £25 for the same thing. So, I now get a taxi (£8 each way to work) or a lift from the Stratstone drivers who regularly go to my place of work. I think this will become the norm. |

Offline | I think this is common practice now with BMW/MINI................Knight's in Stoke have stopped doing courtesy cars and now charge £12 per day which is not bad but this still comes with £500 excess (ouch!). Can't blame them as I suppose they do have to take a hit on depreciation etc when they sell them on!!! |
