If its not too far, get yourself down to Woodmans.

My local dealer is useless, so I have started making the extra journey down to Blackpool now. Well worth the drive.

That does surprise me... I guess it's just who you speak to as always. Mine's going in to Rochdale in a few days so I'll see what comes of it.

Well, I managed to get my decal taken off and refunded although this took 2 phone calls and me having to go in to get it sorted out which was a bit of a pain. The guy I was talking to claimed he showed me a diagram down the phone but thats another story.

I've booked my car in to get an aero spoiler fitted although I'm travelling up to derek woodmans though as I would not leave the toy Mini I have on my keys there let alone my real one!

NNNooooo!!!!!

Don't let them charge you for a loan car as you'll need it a few days. Took them 3 days to replace my glove box, (that was there second attempt after the first one they fitted was obviously used and damaged) , 2 days for a tyre.

Oh and when my colleagues brand new 1 series broke down (ECU light & limp mode) for the 4th time in 6 weeks, she suggested to the service manager that she wanted to hand the car back. His response? "Go on then, Try it!" Thankfully their dealer principle was a little more helpful.

And people ask why I take a days leave and travel to blackpool for my servicing

I'm a new member, and only collected my new car last Thursday from Williams in Liverpool, Ive been very impressed so far. From what I've just read, thank God I didn't order from Halliwell Jones in Warrington (my nearest dealer). But I suppose only time will tell. I'll keep you posted about my experiences of Williams, Liverpool.

had my mcs serviced at warrington 5 weeks ago as I now work in the area.

no issues at all during the service but I asked them to reprogramme my spare key as it had stopped working, anyway turned out the key is terminal and needs a replacement. 5 weeks ago they said it would take two days to arrive, went in saturday to find out what was going on to be told it hadn't arrived and they'd find out why and phone me Monday..............well I'm still waiting

Hi,

I bought a brand new Cooper D a week or so ago and in that time I've found a few minor but niggly faults. I took it to BMW in Warrington this morning and they're trying to say everything's fine but to me it's not.

The faults are:
  • Selecting reverse gear is a nightmare most of the time... I have to move the stick all the way to the right and then all the way to the left a couple of times to get it into reverse. Surely that's not normal even for a new car?
  • The indicator on the computer that tells you what gear I should be in for best economy was working fine for several days but then it just disappeared one day. BMW are saying my car doesn't even have this function... of course it does, it was working for a few days and the salewoman pointed it out on the test car.
  • The tachometer seems to be ever so slightly angled to the left which is a little annoying... BMW technician says it looks fine to him... I would have thought it should be bang on central?
  • Auto headlights are coming on during the day. When it's sunny they're fine but on a greydull day they come on so to me they're too sensitive... BMW are telling me that the setting for the headlights being on in the day was turned on so they turned it off and it should be fine. This is rubbish because I turned the setting off myself after a member on here told me it could be that which was causing it.
  • I closed the boot the other day by pulling the interior handle on the boot lid. I heard something snap inside and now the boot trim is a little loose but BMW says it's fine. I don't think it is and certainly should be able to take more abuse than that?
  • The final thing (for now) is that in the instruction manual it says if you hold down the boot release button on the key fob, it sets the alarm off (panic alarm). Mine doesn't do this and BMW are saying that UK models don't do it... is this right?
All your comments are appreciated but I'm really not happy with the way the garage are handling things.

I take it it's halliwell jones, ive heard some bad things about their warrington dealer, i deal with halliwell jones in southport & they are first rate. My day has has 6 BMW's from them & ive had 2 Mini's. if you do have a problem they sort it out without any fuss. They are an excellant dealer
