Offline | I am soooo annoyed at The Chandlers Mini Garage In Hailsham SERIOUSLY how hard is it to transfer a plate? I have just part exchanged my MINI ONE for a COOPER S CHECKMATE 1. I was told i would be getting 7 days free insurance - nope-I'm under 21 so can't do that 2. They needed me to do get my own insurance, so i did with the plate currently on the CSC 3. I was then told it was wrong and needed to be insured under my private plate and wouldnt listen when i explained that my current car has that plate and all insurance companies see is a mini one when that number plate is imputted. Would they listen? NO 4. So i phoned up the insurance company asked them to change it to my private plate.TA DA I get the Certificate of Motor insurance through the door. under N6 XXY MINI ONE!. SO i am now insured TWICE on the same car! You would think they do this alot????? So now i'll be waiting another week for it to finally be sorted NOT IMPRESSED ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by N6 XXY : Apr 20th, 2008 at 12:22 PM. Reason: Title |

Offline | I did this last year as the dealer refused to even get involved with the transfer! It was put on retention for £105 (money for old rope ), but it did at least include the cost of the transfer to the new MINI, so no extra £80 charge.Tigger. May '08: Due to certain recent events on this site, I no longer wish to continue posting on Mini2. Such a shame after 4 otherwise very happy years on here If you are a friend, I can always be contacted here! |

Online | Not correct When you put a number on retention it includes the cost of it going on a car in the nominee name - i.e your name. If you want to put it on a car owned / registered by another person, do it when you put in on retention otherwise it costs circa £25 to do it later. I allways go the ''put it on retention'' way and then give the dealer the retention cert when buying the new car. It just means you need to take the plate off circa 4 weeks before you get your new motor. Plus do not forget to tell your insurance company so that all of the insurance docs are correct. In Italy |
