Offline | I have to admit, I'm the worst person I know for complaining about service and writing letters of complaint to anyone about anything! More so when it comes to dealerships and service departments etc mainly because I'm a girl and quite technical with my cars and therefore feel a little like I'm being talked down to a lot and BS'd too. But anywho... more to the point. Rybrook Mini Dealership in Shrewsbury... I can't fault them.. I can't pick a fault... ok maybe the MINI section is a little small but then they're having a new MINI only dealership built! so I can't even pick on that. I bought my mini in January this year, even though I'd been calling and asking about it since early December! Not once was I hassled about the car nor was there any hard selling. When I went to test drive the car it was briliant, they had the car ready and waiting and the test route!!! well that was one of the things that sold the car to me, what an awesome test, windy lanes, fast dual carriageway, everything you could want to test a car (more so a MINI). After the test drive there was still no hard sell... i ended up putting a deposit down there and then. They knew that I wanted to sell my current car at the time private so there was going to be some delay between me actually buying the car off them. Yet there was no naggin on the phone "have you sold it, when you coming to get it? sell sell sell" none of that. And the fella in finance (can't remember his name sorry) was brilliant. I don't think he could've offered any more different ways of sorting the funds out, even though I didn't go with them in the end as the bank of Mom and Dad came in helpful and much cheeper ![]() Anyway that was the sale... then a day after I picked it up I noticed a thudding noise as I drove the car. The next day a nice shiny MINI turned up for courtesy car and they took mine away. 2 new tyres FOC later she was returned cleaned and smelling like new again. fantastic service!!Then recently I was startin to have trouble with 3rd and 4th gear... so reported this to the garage. Popped over to see them so a technician could take it out. We must have been out a good 20 minutes testing it in all different situations, very thorough indeed!! he then wrote a report about the car having had a good look over. Resulted in the car needing a new gearbox, new part on the exhaust, new dipstick and an advisory on brake pads n discs all round.... but still no hard sell on the parts that I'd pay for. 3 days later, I nice shiny clubby cooper S turns up outside work (fantastic lil car!!) they take mine away. the next afternoon I have my mini back clean n sparkly, with new gearbox AND new clutch!! and other bits and bobs fixed... still no hard sell on the brakes!! I just can't believe how well a dealership operates and how fantastic the service is... and that no one has commented on them before. I had to share my story cause I think they're brilliant and do a fantastic job at NOT being stereotypical pushy arsey salespeople... they treat anyone and everyone the same. Even though it takes me 40 minutes to get to them and I have a MINI garage 10 minutes down the road, I'd much prefer to drive over there and get that sort of service. Highly recommend them to anyone that can make the journey if your looking at new or used or even repairs/servicing etc. Just one word of warning... if you go on a test drive and like to give your car a goood test and throw it about a bit then if you take Matt the sales fella out with you, make sure he didn't drink too much the night before.... seeing him go as white as he did in my rear view mirror still makes me chuckle! |

Offline | Just wanted to echo this praise, I just bought a used R56 Cooper S from them, I am up in Sheffield and as I have mentioned in the other thread am probably the fussiest person in the planet when it comes to the condition of my cars, I explained that this was the thing that was holding me back as if it was not right I would not accept it it had to be as new. They inspected the car really carefully and pronounced it as good as new which indeed it was except a tiny parking dent in the door which I pointed out on collection, in response they told me to get it sorted locally and send them the bill - fantastic service - I shall be using them again I am sure! |

Offline | I was always pretty impressed with them in their previous guise as Godfrey Hall and, after that, Rydale (only for a short time, mind, as I went and bought a Golf!). They always valeted and cleaned my MINI for me and even gave me a free MOT on my car's third birthday, despite having officially discontinued the practice shortly before. They were also very good with test drives (I had two in the space of three days when I ordered my car) and never quibbled when I bought my car in for warranty work. I'm glad to see that they're still a decent dealer, as it helps when choosing which dealer to use when ordering my next car (a Cooper S, in all likelihood) in 2009. Wobster - where's the new MINI dealership going? Are they using the same site? |

Offline | Its next door to the Renault Dealership on Featherbed lane - looks like a massive improvement over the existing site. Certainly getting better, a lot of the local feedback is good - getting back to how it was in the good old Godfrey Hall days. If I was going to be in the market for another MINI I would give them a go. (But from my experience the trade in values would have to be more in line with the other regional MINI dealers, always came out with lower figures than Knights/Benhams etc........) Its a very difficult job and the only way to get through it is we all work together as a team..... |
