They'd go up vastly in my estimation if they offered you a drink while you wait 2 hours for a warranty repair.

I find the difference in service between the Mini garage and their BMW place absolutely huge. At BMW they so much more professional.

Angry Disappointed

Well, North Oxford have really let me down this morning.

Booked my Cooper in 2 1/2 weeks ago for its second service, turned up today to be fobbed off with a V reg Peugeot 206 which was absolutely filthy inside.

However the main problem was that after a 1/4 mile drive down the road it was obvious that it was pulling very hard to the left. Turned round, took it back and asked for anoher car as the Peugeot was dangerous.

Eventually they found their W reg Rover 400 runabout and brought it round for me. One airbag, no ABS and a magic fuel gauge which goes up when you accelerate

I wouldn't have expected a MINI dealer, particularly one with a posh new showroom, to put their customers out in 7 or 8 year old courtesy cars. There's a reason I own a MINI, and that's so I don't have to drive crappy old cars.

I'm very annoyed

Ive used that 206 it's a nightmare

Apparently if you specify you want a MINI as a courtesy car they will do the best they can to make sure you get one

I had the 206 this time last week. It's horrible. Handles like a bus.

Well which one of you broke the steering which meant it pulled sharply and dangerously to the left then :P

I'd have thought that a MINI garage should provide MINIs as courtesy cars as a matter of course, and at a very minimum should provide cars that are reasonably new (i.e. not 7 or 8 years old) and equipped with ABS and airbags the same as the MINI.

I wouldn't have minded too much if it was a 2 year old 206 or Fiesta, but knackered old courtesy cars from a supposedly 'premium' manufacturer and a large dealership isn't acceptable in my eyes..

I never even considered that I'd get anything but a MINI, so I'm feeling disappointed, and it would have been nice of them to ask when I booked it in 2 1/2 weeks ago to say "would you like a MINI or a heap?". Everytime one of our MINIs has been in at North Oxford over the last 4 years we've had a fairly new MINI or BMW courtesy car.

Oh No

I took my MINI in 2 weeks ago after booking it in a week before, they new nothing about it.
And ended up having to drive a Rover 200! I drove in every puddle i could and gave it back with No fuel and coverd in Dirt!

Made me feel better!

Update on North Oxford's courtesy cars - they are now using MINIs again - the Rover and Peugeot have been 'retired'!

Quite amusing that the red Cooper I was handed the keys for was nowhere to be found on their site at all, and I ended up in lovely smart Hyper Blue Cooper instead

Much happier bunny!

Did you specifically request a MINI courtesy car when you booked your in? Do they charge you of you just want one whilst yours is serviced?

Hi Nick,

Yes I did ask for a MINI courtesy car, because of the experience last time, but was told that courtesy cars are now MINIs. I wasn't charged for the 'hire' car, not sure whether that's the norm though

I'm glad they just use MINIs now. I heard that charged £20 a day for one though. Which service did you have done?
