Offline | My Cooper is due 18 November so I asked the dealer over the weekend to give me a trade-in value for my car, (a 1999 Astra Sport with only 19000 miles) but because they only sell BMW/Mini he said he would ring round some dealers for a bid.Today I got the call. £4700 this month and obviously less in November. This is despite Glass's Guide showing £5175 without any low mileage adjustment. What a guide!!! It b*****s up the finances some what. Needless to say I am desparate for my Mini and will have to succumb to this as a last resort. In the meantime I will attempt to sell privately so if anyone out there knows someone please let me know. Roll on November 18. Black/White Cooper,Chilli pack(full leather), alarm, auto aircon,ASC&T,heated mirrors/jets, cd changer, MFSW. TonyC |

Offline | Your best bet would be to sell your trade-in to a private party. When you sell to a dealer, they need to make a profit on the car, so they aren't going to give you what you think it's worth. So, advertise it in the newspaper, and one or more of those "Auto Trader"-type magazines. Chip H. ex-MINI Cooper S owner and all around good-guy |

Offline | ....and keep it sparkling clean inside and out all the time. It will be good practice for keeping your MINI clean Advertise in your work, people you know's work etc. My dealer offered me a poor trade in too. They basically phoned several traders to see who would offer the best price as they weren't interested themselves. I think 2nd hand car values seem to have really dropped recently. Good luck. You've got plenty time to sell your car. I managed to sell mine OK. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | Trade in values Thanks for your comments. I shall be putting an advert in the local paper in the next few days. The wife is putting a notice around her work. I will probably try a notice in the window too since I know my brother has sold cars this way before. Keeping it clean is'nt a real problem. I've always tried to wash my cars every week. Mind you it sounds like a black Mini will take a bit more! Something to look forward to? But not as much as the driving. TonyC |

Offline | SOLD Just an update to say my car was advertised in the local paper over the weekend and it sold yesterday. Idid'nt get as much as I would really like but at least it was more than the trade in. Only 4 weeks to manage without wheels! TonyC |
