Dealer recommendation in NY/NJ Metro area?

Local NY/NJ metropolitan MCS owners I need some advise. Which dealer would you recommend to go to for sales? I already heard negative comments about Princeton MINI so they are off my list. TIA!

Another question: If ordering this month, by average, when shall I expect delivery?

Happy and safe motoring!

To be honest, you're gonna HEAR/READ more bad comments than good comments on this board because people with gripes post more often than the happy, driving ones. Be sure to read the whole post to see if anyone counters what is said.

But in the spirit, I've heard the most positive things about
1 - The one in Westchester (the one with MiniQueen)
2 - Hassel in Freeport, LI
3 - Habberstad in Huntington on LI

I used MINI of Manhattan. I get my car tomorrow and have had no complaints so far. I deal with Josh Shull. For the record, I haven't read one good thing on any board about this operation though.

Good luck...

MINE!! on 10/18/02 - IB/W Cooper S, White Bonnet Stripes, Premium - Sport - Cold, Lapis Blue interior, Nav, Rally Lamps, 17" White Spokes. Wouldn't change a thing....

Just to let you know -- I had a very good experience buying my MCS from Princeton (Alan Causing was great). As sjjn pointed out, you'll definitely hear more random gripes than random good comments about most dealers.

MiniCooperOnline has a growing Dealership review board that you might find helpful.

Go with Hassel MINI of Freeport (516-378-6300) they are a first class operation, I dealt with Scott Tauber, when I got my S, did everything over the phone and via fax, just had to drive down to NY when the car was ready, 30 minutes later I was happily motoring back to CT.

MINI of the Hamptons (South Hampton)

and

MINI of Fairfield County (Stamford)

A bit further out but super well worth it.

Really.

Heard wicked bad things about MINI of Manhattan.

Delivery turnaround: Call and ask!!!

M of FC 203-348-4700

Look up M of H on miniusa.com. They are VERY quick turnaround when i checked a month ago.

MINI of the Hamptons ...

Joan Zandell was excellent. Probably because they knew they would never have to service the vehicle, as I am in Idaho.

Morristown Mini

Keri and John at Morristown Mini are great, they never acted annoyed even with my constant changes.. I picked it up today, and it was flawless, not a blemish on it. It will cost you MSRP for the car and no more. I haven't used the service yet, but sales was great.

I dealt with Adam Zuk (201-267-8709) at Prestige MINI who was was very professional despite the fact that I cancelled my allocation on the last minute. I originally went to M of Manhattan but was driven away because one of the representatives never call back even after I left multiple voicemails on different days.

Click here for the minicooperonline.com dealer rating page for Prestige MINI.

Good luck and hope to see pics of your MCS in the future!

I bought mine at MINI of Fairfield County, CT. No problem reccomending them or Peter Braun.

Very nice experience, all in all.

Not sure what the wait is now, but it took 6 mos. to get mine. Certainly worth the wait.

In Defense of MINI of Manhattan

I've read the posts and the gripes and really can't come to grips with all the bad press they are getting. I used them and they have been nothing but wonderful/attentive/helpful/eager/and enthusiastic about my purchase. They helped me get a lower financing rate than BMW finacial was giving, sold me my car at sticker with no pressure to buy any "additions", I found no false fees in the paperwork. The day I picked up my car Josh, my dealer, put aside a ton of time to go over various options, was very patient while I checked out the car in and out. Even helped remove the airbag sticker and clean up the residue on the glove compartment. I will also add that my car looked absolutley gorgeous inside and out. Not a speck or spot on the car anywhere and a brilliant shine all over. He even called on Monday to find out my thoughts on the car after I had it for the weekend.

I don't know what others expect but I will say I had a most enjoyable experience buying from them. I will certainly recommend them and Josh Shull in particular for anyone looking to buy in the Tri-State area.

MINE!! on 10/18/02 - IB/W Cooper S, White Bonnet Stripes, Premium - Sport - Cold, Lapis Blue interior, Nav, Rally Lamps, 17" White Spokes. Wouldn't change a thing....
