Offline | What are your good and bad experiences with St Louis' Autohaus of Clayton? Last week I ordered my MCS from Autohaus and now I am hearing that a few Mini owners are not happy with this dealership. So far my grip is Autohaus is charging me $500 over MSRP for an ordered car (due 2/03). They are justifing the $500 by saying "you get 'free' floor mats, a full tank of gas, dealer prep and loaner cars when I get service". So, thinking I was going to get the $100 mats anyway and that it would probably cost $400 to go to the nearest "at MSRP" dealer, I agreed. Now comes some negative news on www.roadfly. Any other thoughts on this dealer before I go through with this deal? They do have a $500 deposit from me. Any unpleasant surprises during your purchase/delivery experience with Autohaus? I would really appreciate any comments. |

| Living in Mini Wasteland | I was pleased with my salesman. I got the car early (in MAY) ordered with my options exactly the way I wanted it. I did have a minor problem being picked up at the airport. I was slightly upset with the service department. I wanted to get my options programmed when I picked up the car (I live over 6 hours away). I was told that there were no programmable options on the MINI. After pointing out the correct pages in the owner's manual, I was then informed that they didn't have the software yet. Nice change of story. Another dealership is now open about 2 hours from me so I have a choice as to where to take it. I do have friends in the city so I am still willing to make the 6 hour trip to get some servicing done. I was really pleased with the pickup of the car. It was covered with a car cover in the showroom when I went to pick it up. The rest of the staff was enjoyable to be around. I must say that the MINI staff were having fun selling cars, (unlike the BMW guys next door). I was told that the $500 was fully refundable up until the time that I picked up the car. My comments: Sales Staff Service department ![]() Sold the Cooper. Now driving the Traveller. I mean Clubman. |
