Offline | Hi all, Sorry if this is a little long winded but i can't really cut it down. I ordered my mini ONE about 3 months ago, and is due for delivery on the 18/11/2002. I'm really lookin forward to it but am not overly impressed with the level of service from my dealer! I'm 19 years old and have waited ages to get this car, and its taken a lot of saving to get it. On the day of when i ordered my ONE the dealer informed me of a second hand ONE that was due in which matched my spec exactly!!! and got me to pay the initial £500 to get the car at the factory started in case the second hand one fell through. I was offered first refusal of the second hand car so i signed for the new ONE and paid the money and left the show room pretty chuffed with myself. After a month of not hearin about the second hand car i gave them a ring and they said the family had gone on holiday so i had to wait for them to get back before anything else could be done. fair enough, but i was a bit peeved with the fact that i had to ring them to find this out. Another couple of weeks went by and still nothing!! so i rang them again and this time i was told "we haven't heard anything, doesn't look like its gonna happen". I wasn't too happy again that it took me to phone them up to find out about this so i hung up the phone and had a sulk anyway 3 months on from when i ordered my car i have only recieved one phone call from them to check that some bank details were correct and that was it!! I even had to phone them to find out my delivery date!!! I know this could be me being impatient but this seems really poor service. I don't expect round the clock uppdates of my cars production but a couple of phone calls wouldn't have hurt to let me know about the second hand car would it?? All i want to know is if anyone else has had this sort of service or worse and whether i should have a moan about it or whether i'm jus being an impatient B******D!? I just feel like they told me a load of crap about a second hand car to get me to sign for the other? Don't get me wrong i can't wait for my car, but do i really want to do business with a dealer who i feel is ripping me off? |

![]() M2 Bapmaster | That does seem like pretty crap service from your salesguy. I didn't get that many phone calls from my dealer but that's because there wasn't much need for them as I popped in every now and again. I do think you should have got more info off them, i.e they should have called to let you know the est del date etc. Is there another dealer near you that you could change to? ![]() |

Offline | Re: Poor Service? Hi r.bowers, and welcome to MINI2 ![]() I'm sorry your experience with your dealer hasn't been a happy one (you wouldn't care to name them would you?) You deserve some attention from them for their money. Was the problem that the second hand ONE didn't come in to the dealer at all? I think many would-be MINI owners make a few visits to their dealer and build up a rapport with their sales-people. I must admit my dealer seemed to have more time to spend with me when I bought my Cooper last year than they have this year planning my next MINI. I have had timely phonecalls before, eg when my Cooper was just about to go spec-unchangeable - giving me the opportunity to make any last minute tweaks to my order before it would have been too late. Can you spend a little time bugging your dealer now about your MINI before it's delivered - raise your profile with them now, they should keep you bang up to date with delivery time etc. You're stuck with these guys for delivery, but once you have your ONE, you may choose any MINI dealer for warranty work, accessories, servicing, etc. What's the spec of your new ONE? |

Offline | Thanks for the replies. i understand about what you were sayin about not being phoned all the time, but i never got one phone call, only when they were worried about my bank details. The dealer was Sytner in Solihull and i'm gonna take a trip up there today to have a talk with them and tell them about my dissattisfaction with the service i recieved. Thanks again and i'll post again soon when i pick up my new ONE! my Spec is a black ONE with salt pack, 8 spoke alloys, i never bothgered with the stereo because i've got an aftersales unit to stick in. I'll post some pics too. Speak to u all soon |

Offline | If it's any consolation my dealer was v.poor as well. She never returned my calls, was rude, I even had to chance her up to place my order. If it was any other car I would have told her to stuff it. Like you it was my first new car, and unfortunately she ruined the whole experience for me....if there is one thing I hate its poor customer service. Needless to say I've taken the decision to not step foot in that dealership again. Luckily for me there are two other dealerships in the area. Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | Same here Once ordered all the information we got came from enquiries from us - many telephone calls were not returned. General lack of interest. Our enquires about the car were only every 4 - 6 weeks to check on spec update etc. |

Offline | I bought my One from Sytners in Leicester and I had the opposite experience to yours, nothing too much trouble, phone calls to keep me up to date etc. If you still don't get any joy from your dealer write to the head office, marked for the attention of Frank Sytner, and I bet the sales guys in Solihull get a rocket up their arses. ![]() |
