Eastern Motor Company - Edinburgh

Would be interested to hear of other feedback for this dealership as I have had both good and bad experiences with them.

Good points

They communicate well and inform you with the progress with your car
Drop you off at work and pick you back up again
Cleans the car inside and out
Reasonably professional and friendly service / sales staff

However.. i have also had a lot of issues with them

Car when bought had a damaged sill that they were meant to replace before i received the car - they were then required to bring the car back in for an afternoon to fix

Car has had so many issues since I bought it last summer (although covered through warrenty, has been so much hassle). This includes - power steering pump failure (which nearly caused an accident), headlight unit needing replaced as it stopped working, cooling fan failing, power steering pipe leak, rattle when car is in neutral.

This brings me to the worst part of the dealership for me. My car was brought in for a rattle when the clutch is in neutral. I was first told by one of their engineer it would be the gearbox or clutch which they would replace under warranty.

When they took the car for 2 days, they actually only fixed the clutch bearings and claimed this was the issue. However it did not fix it.

I then brought the car back in again and within an hour or so of them having the car, they then claimed it was a worn clutch plate which needed to be replaced at a cost of £800, not under warranty.

I did not believe this so had the car checked at another dealership and they have since told me there is nothing wrong with the car and the rattle is normal for the cooper s model.

I now therefore dont know why i was being asked to pay for work i did not need and therefore have since avoided the dealership unless i have to go there. It seems fishy to me that i was being asked to pay for work that according to another approved mini dealership, it was not required work!!

Hello. I'm an Edinburgh newbie to the forum as I've just bought a used Cooper D from Eastern.
So far everything has been fine. They were polite, friendly and efficient. However, we'll see how that goes if there are any probs with my Mini.
