Hi All,
Had a great purchase experience there in 2009. We bought a 2009/59 Clubman ONE brand new, loaded with:
- Multi function wheel
- Armrest
- Upgraded stereo
- Full bluetooth
- Upgraded interior lighting
- Heated front seats
- Chili pack
- TLC
So as you can see we spent a few quid..
They rang us in December 2011 asking if we wanted to return our PCP contract hire car and trade it in against a Countryman (as they were doing a £2000 contribution and we now have 2 x small children....).
We went in and were offered £7500 for ours..... They used the sales technique of showing us Glass's guide where it did say that bottom book was £7500 (but not including any of the accessories, or the condition etc etc).
So needless to say i was not happy, to the point where I rang a friend of mine who has been in the motor sales trade for many years (never bought from him as never mix mates with business..) and I asked him what he thought our car was worth. He instantly responded saying that 'you cars value starts with a 10, and I will buy it from you if you want'. I asked him to justify that and he said 'I would put that on my forecourt at £11500 and take £11300 making me at least £1000.. and I know that currently they are well into book'. So armed with this I was honest, firm and fair with Soper and told them this to which they just shrugged their shoulders and said that £7500 was their offer. I then thought of another weapon..the internet!! So I used their Wi-Fi and logged onto Autotrader on my iPhone and searched for 2009/59 Clubmans. Cheapest one I could find locally was £10750, same colour but boggo spec. I showed them this and they still said £7500 was their max.
That's my experience of Soper Lincoln and they will not now be getting my repeat business, even though the initial buying process was so good..
