Offline | San Antonio Mini Grinnin' I'm driving a mini. (Get ready for adjectives un-becoming a 47 year old woman) It's not "My Prince," but, the black and white CVT that Richard and Al arranged for me to borrow until mine comes in is a definite "make it up to you," just like they promised. I think this is the most valuable premium I've ever heard of. It was incredibly generous and endlessly appreciated. My worst fear was - well, I won't even mention that - but my second worst fear was that my car (which has been at the Vehicle Distribution Center since Jan 18, and missed the first ship it was booked on) would be hidden way back in the corner and would be the last to be shipped. That's exactly what happened. As of yesterday afternoon, my car was still at the port. I wasn't really whining - I was holding my breath and biting my lip so my voice came out in high and squeaky. (I was going to have to rent a car for the 3rd time in a month to run to Austin Monday) Richard arranged for me to use one of the demos until my car comes in, even giving me a CVT, since I was unsure about a 5-speed. (I can drive a stick, I just don't like to, so I've only done it about 5 times in my life.) (One sad note: Richard drove a yellow and black S out of the showroom just after I got there, saying something like, "here's the number one delivery." That was supposed to be me!) Tonight, I drove home a black and white Mini with Auto air, a sun roof, and fancy steering wheel. I can't tell you how much fun it was. The car is very responsive, everything is in the right place so that driving is almost intuitive. Any bets on how long before my husband (attempts to) forbid me from squealing "It's so cute!!!" Chili red with white, white star wheels, CVT, sunroof, all 3 combos red interior, and everything except CD changer and fancy skirts and grill. Driving since May. I love it that everyone else seems to think I bought my car so that they could smile at it! |

Offline | Richard is one busy beaver But, this kind of "organized chaos" only comes once (when a dealership opens, receives its first allocation and everyone converges on them at once) : But, on the other hand, I don't think the customer service is only going to occur once Three cheers, Richard : BTW, did he tell you when your car is being transported from the port to San Antonio ![]() Fix it 'til it breaks. |

Offline | hocndoc, I'm glad to hear you are finally enjoying a MINI experience - even though it is not your MINI yet. That was very decent of the dealership after all the waiting you've had to do. I'll looking forward to developing a good relationship with my new 'local' dealer. ![]() + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

Offline | Hocdoc, Congratualtions! When your baby gets in you will have all of the controls figured out! My car was at the VPC Friday. I guess that it will be at the dealership next week. I think that there is another big bunch of cars (including Sparky) following the initial 50 that already hit. Maybe our cars will take the trip from South Carolina together? |

Offline | Mowing the Lawn Faron, Mowing the lawn??? We all assumed that you would spend the weekend washing MINIs We did have fun in San Antonio - Ate at the cafe you recommended. I think the clientele were as interesting as the food. (Looked like a lot of San Antonio old money people.) Thanks for the recommendation. Visited the Alamo - 1st time for my daughter so that was not optional. Also did Ripley's - The real shrunken head made the biggest impression We had a malt in Fudruckers (Guilt for a week - but they were perfect). Then on to the river walk. She was a bit too pooped for the snake farm or caverns etc. Once we get the MINI we will have to Motor down and spend a couple of weekends doing the tourist thing. |

Offline | Pebbles, That would be great. I think I'll post a location and we'll try to get a few MINIs there. I know that there are a few others coming soon to Austin and Pfugerville. John |

Offline | I didn't go driving at all today, since I ordered 60 (count 'em, 60) bare root roses this spring, and have been trying to get them in the ground before they go bad. (20 over the last week, 20 today, and the rest heeled into a trench) That's not counting all the rest breaks to look at my koi, who are getting frisky. Besides, I don't want to put any more miles on the car than I have to. But, tomorrow I have to drive up to Austin. Before that, I'll drive by the office to show the car off. Yesterday when my husband and I went up to get the car, we stopped for gas (for my husband's car) at the gas station down the road from the dealership. There at the station was a silver and black mini. Any doubts I might have had were wiped away by the sight of that little car. It was immediately identifiable and unique. I figured out what I like about it: the front line looks like it's in motion while it's sitting there. Faron, I'll make it a point to say hi when I come in. (I hope your daughter's better, I didn't answer the other thread, I'm trying to let it die.) Chili red with white, white star wheels, CVT, sunroof, all 3 combos red interior, and everything except CD changer and fancy skirts and grill. Driving since May. I love it that everyone else seems to think I bought my car so that they could smile at it! |

Offline | Anybody get their car yet? We know that the MINI Center folks have been working hard... Which MINI2 folks have been amongst the lucky recipients of this labor? We need to see photos!! ASK MINI will no longer give ANY information once the car arrives at the port – some “new policy”… So Sparky is in limbo… Maybe still at the VPC? Maybe going to be delivered today? Who said that patience is a virtue? |

| MINI2 Senior | WOW! Congratulations! Oooh, I so want to see your car; what colour interior did you select? Perhaps some time when I'm in San Antonio to visit my brother (and Bruce?), I can visit you and see the new car; I've never seen a Pepper White in person, but I'll bet that it looks smashing. I think my absolute first choice dream MINI would be a Pepper White S with red interior; wow! It's so neat that MINI Center is finally open there, and I'm excited that people seem to really like them. I like the people there, too. Peace, wynn Texan. Goofy. Sometimes witty. Pacifist. Imperfect, nice guy. Trying. |

Offline | I was at the San Antonio dealer today and they have a pepper white on the lot. Also a silk green. both looked great! I had not seen many MINIs in person so it was great to see so many at one place. They were very busy with allot of people looking at the MINIs. It was funny because we left there and not a minute later we saw a bumper sticker that said Buy English Not French. We both cracked up laughing!! "Mr Bridger" |

Offline | Glad to hear that MINI's are soon to be prolific in South Texas. My daughter and I were in San Antonio earlier this week (in our Indi/White Cooper, stripes, driving lights), but were surprised to see no MINI's during our stay. We did see the billboard with the mosaic MINI, so expected to see some MINI's on the road. As a matter of fact, we did not see another MINI on our entire trip from Kansas City to San Antonio and back except for one at the turnpike entrance at Emporia, KS Mar 15 AM (yellow/White) and at the Hallett, OK SCCA vintage care races the same day. We did enjoy our drive though. |
