Offline | Congratulations on your new MINI! I was in the showroom today, but didn't see your car in there earlier this afternoon. They must have still been cleaning it up for you. My MINI was worked on by the MINI Center today for some warranty items and I was happy with the level of service. I've only got about 700 miles to go before its first scheduled maintenance (11K miles), so I'll be visiting them again very soon. ![]() I'm not familiar with the SL-II, but a convoy up into the Hill Country to visit the original Salt Lick for some good food sounds great to me. ![]() + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed Last edited by BruceK : Mar 21st, 2003 at 11:22 PM. |

Offline | Whoops. Showing my age. The SL was originally called the SLII cause of the one that existed in Blanco. They finally dropped the "II" many moons ago. Let's see what kind of response we get and we can all meet and motor on up to the Salt Lick. For those reading that have never been, it's located NE of Wimberely and a great Mini Adventure with good chow rewarding you on your arrival. Sounds like a plan. Anyone interested? Offline | First MINI Passing (Austin area) Just in case, was anyone on the list driving a Silver/Black MCS in the Pflugerville/Round Rock area yesterday? You might have seen me driving my BRG/BK MCS waving like a mad man. It was the first time I've passed another Mini on the road in the almost 2 months I've had the little bugger. Cheers to all and Congratulations to SA Mini Center on the first deliveries! Steve Lawrence |

Offline | We picked up Sparky at the MINI Center last night! They had Sparky all prepped and ready - sitting on the showroom floor. They have a bunch of Sparky's brothers and sisters on the lot. Many color combinations - all of them looked good in their own way.Richard and the gang were great. They are still getting the place together (computers on-the-way etc). They have a good team there and the Center has overall very good Karma. Sparky loves to Motor. I'm going very easy for the 1st 100 miles - then working my way up for the overall running-in period. We stayed below 4000 RPM and 80 MPH. Sparky still had lots of zip, especially in the 40 to 80 range. Even though I was changing speed and gears a bunch he still averaged about 36 MPG on the trip (mostly highway). And - Yes - Everyone who meets Sparky in the car park wants to stop and talk about him. This is a very busy week at work for me, but I will try to post some pics this weekend! |

Offline | Congratulations! Motoring sounds good. Not to sound trite, but the manual has a whole page on break-in procedures to include tires, brakes, rpm, etc. etc. I hate the part about putting 1,250 miles on the engine before I can flog it. We'll be a see'n ya on the road. Last edited by ScooterMan : Apr 7th, 2003 at 05:50 AM. |
