Angry Dealers offering 'sold' cars as 'Demos' ??

Heard some bad news recently..a friend was offered a 'test drive/demo' in a Cooper S and the salesman told him to 'open it up and see what it would do'.
He even added 'drop it down a couple of cogs and see how it goes'

Imagine his face when told that this was the car his brother had ordered/paid deposit on and was due to collect in two days time!!!! Mad or what!!##!!??

Question to Dealers...Is this normal practice with a customers car?

Mine had better not be used as a demo vehicle before I pick it up or I will be a little peeved. Due for collection this week, but cannot collect till Monday/ Tuesday next due to work comittments. Watch out for these dealers, they are sharks.

I must admit I questioned them as mine had 17 miles on the clock, but cant really prove they abused it....

17 miles is ok - they should get the car on the road and pdi (pre delivery inspect) it comprehensively - I would be worried about driving off with no miles on the clock! I wonder what is the lowest mileage anyone has actually driven off with...now is that a seperate thread?

No can do as I don't want to be sued for passing on 'third party' information, albeit I believe it to be true!!
Defamation etc costs£££££££££££££££££££.

Not anywhere near you though....
