Just got the standard orange keyring and a bunch of flowers for my wife as the car was her suprise birthday present ( by my reckoning the flowers were worth £50 [orchids etc]).

I paid for a wire MINI keyring (£5), but I did get a free grin from ear to ear as I drove the car back to work, taking the long route via some long and windy road.

Dealer customer service was second to none (Sytners in Leicester).

As a comparison when I picked my Civic Sport (yes I have seen the posts about the Type R so don't start!)from the Honda dealer in January they dropped £500 off the list price and threw in free front fogs (£230), metallic paint (£275), two key rings, but no flowers!

Which car do I prefer - well no contest if I can find where Julie has hidden the MINI keys to stop me driving HER car!

Oh, the car did come with a tank of fuel - but I paid for it.

On the invoice the price had risen from £11,770 to £11,800. When I queried this I was told that this was for the tank of petrol. They said it was standard practice in all MINI dealers. From this thread I think that isn't the case across the board!

Cool Free Stuff

Test drove a basic Mini, then purchased an on-site Mini (Indy Blue/white, bonnet stripes, sport package, cd) on April 20 at Mini of Mountain View (California). They drove it out of the showroom for me, polished off the fingerprints, gave me a full tank of gas, promised me a "new design" key ring, and gave me a teeshirt with an odometer reading "00000030" on the front, allegedly proving I purchased the 30th Mini from this dealer. Can't help but wonder how many other 00000030s there might be out there -- anyone else score a shirt? 30th or 31st, I'm thoroughly enjoying driving the only Mini in my neighborhood! Still waiting to see numbers 1-29....

Macsport,
I'd be more than inclined to look into the added £30 for fuel....
I received half a tank-full.....

Thanks Smartbomb

I did get a tank full of fuel with the car, so they haven't short changed me on that (I probably made a little on the deal in fact).

Very happy with the service received from Sytners, they even rang me today to check that the car was OK and I was happy with everything (already done 400 miles in six days- with no problems).

I could ask them about the fuel charge, but I don't need the hassle. We're just enjoying owning the best car on the road (Cool and mellow!)

Thats cool...glad to hear you havn't be 'done'...

Received in the post the other day..
A Scothall card entitling me to discounts at the dealer for accesories and valets, and offers and discounts for services and shops in the Cambridge area. Well pleased.
On top of that, a voucher for a photographers in Cambridge for a free portait and session....worth a few bob....

Watch out for the dealer tho cos they put ur Mini TLC and petrol onto ur HP or PCP agreement that means the £100 and £30 yer payin out has interest onto it!! Do what i did and pay for it seperatly!

I got:
Bottle of champagne
Mini wire keyring
The crappy fob keyring that digs into yer leg!
All the paperwork!
A huge smile from the dealer (He got more commision!)
A huge smile!
A titanium BMW pen...I nicked it cos they didnt pay for the petrol!

Exactly right - that £30 tank of petrol will be about £45 by the time the car is paid off.

Sound advice about paying separately - that's what I did!

mmm apparentely I didn't try enough

I only got :

- a half fuel tank
- THE mini wire keyring
- 5 t-shirts
- a box of chocolates (instead of champagne)

Maybe because of the 5% discount and the free Pure Silver colour.

Morty

You got a 5% discount AND free metallic paint?

You're the man!

Sytners wouldn't entertain any movement on the price and I'm sure that's the same for all UK dealers, they can't make the cars quick enough so why should they discount them.

Thanks

I didn't know it's so hard to get a discount on the Mini.
In Belgium getting 3% discount is normal I think.

I originally proposed another deal to my dealer:

I'd buy an almost full option Cooper and he'd get me the bodykit for free

Unfortunately he didn't agree
