United-States DO NOT goto Mountain View, CA Mini Dealer to service you car.

Hi All,

Just would like to let all of you know that I had a very bad experience with the service department at Mountain View, CA Mini.
I brought my car in for a wheel alignment, xenon headlight adjustment and software upgrade. He(Peter Smee) promised to get it done in 2 days. He did not called on the first day to update my car's status. And I called him on the second day, he said "There is no promise, I cannot promise that you can pick up the car tomorrow". What kind of service is that? Not helpful at all. No patient and does not listen to the customer.

Bad Bad Bad service and experience. It is purely not MINI spirit.

However, Got a very pleasant experience with MINI customer relations. She called Peter and talk to him. Then, he agrees to get my car done in the next day. Jesus!!! I know he can do it.

Was this a scheduled service (appointment) or a drop-in visit? Can't see how all the items you described couldn't be taken care of that day if you had an appt.

I had my MC's 10K service at MV MINI, didn't have any problems whatsoever. My service was on 12/10. They did the oil change, new wipers, pollen filter, updated with V36 and washed and vacuumed the car, all done in one day. I used them three times all together with positive results so far.

Vacuum? did they really? I've never had a BMW/MINI dealership vacuum my car... they just drive it through the wash to clean the outside, that's the extent I've had it.

Did you ask for the pollen filter and wiper change? or did they just do it cuz it looked bad/ streaked?

Yes, they really did vacuum the inside. They replaced the Microfilter, I refered to it as the pollen filter maybe it's not the same thing, anyway replacing the Microfilter is part of the service checklist ( at least the 10K service) and it was checked off on the list and the part was listed on the work order as a warranty item.

I did ask them to check the wipers (front and rear) because they were streaking, otherwise I don't think they are normally covered during the 10K service.

Wiper are covered under the service wrty if they are worn out. Those types of thing are checked during your second service, Inspection I.

On a short vacation I thought I'd take a chance on getting some bugs fixed. I called MINI of Mountain View late in the afternoon and they told me to come early the next day. They fixed a broken seat recliner and installed the new rear hatch latch while I waited. Every thing was done on warranty and fixed the problems. They gave me a free coffee mug to boot. They are not my original MINI dealer and are 300 miles from my home. I'd have to say they treated me just great.
