Did your dealer charge you to install these items when you bought it new???

Hello,
i recently made a deposit at a local dealer and later revoked that deposit when the salesperson hit me with more charges that i was wary of.... these were not mentioned when i originally placed my order.

can you please tell me if these options are factory installed (i.e. when you ORDER the car with this equipment, is it already installed or just laying in the front seat???)

-harmon kardon system
-sirius satellite tuner
-rear fog light
-fog light switch ass'y.
-front driving lights
-auxiliary audio input

my dealer was trying to charge me SERIOUS money to install these, so i am wondering why am i paying so much through the website when i order the mini.

tell me if you had to pay MORE for installing these OVER the price you paid for them when you bought your mini new!

thanks

- front fog = factory
- Aux input = dealer (do it yourself)

Hey, another San Antonioian! Welcome to MINI2.

I did not purchase from our local dealer (they hadn't opened for business yet) so I'm not familar with their sales practices. However, installation charges for some of the items you mentioned seems very fishy (as gmini03 has explained in detail). Perhaps you can escalate your concerns to the sales manager?

If you go to www.MINIUSA.com and use the build your own feature, only the items in section 5 (read the disclaimer that pops up) require dealer install, if you don't add anything in step 5 then the price listed (MSRP) is the price you should be paying (not including tax, title, registration etc.)

wow... another san antonian! i thought i was the only one....
(you never see minis here)

they acted like they didn't even want my business.... when i asked my salesman about the prices, he said they are dealer set and non-negotiable. i said i wasn't convinced and needed more consolation, and he replied (and i QUOTE)

"should i mail you back your check or just rip it up?" (speaking of my deposit check)!!!!

can you believe that? i don't even WANT to give them my business now, after that crap. plus they were telling me a 5-month waiting period. i don't like that. a friend at a florida dealership tells me 2 months. i hear from others its one month. looks like i will have to pay to ship it to me anyways, so now i am scouring the country for the best deal.

any help would be great, thanks

the prices he was charging me for install:
$899 sirius radio installed
$190 installed on the aux switch
$350 installation of the fogs (PLUS the price on the web)
and so on and so forth....

check with MINI of the Hamptons in Long Island NY www.miniofthehamptons.com
or classic MINI in Ohio www.driveclassicmini.com

both 'specialize' in out of state deals. Both do MSRP only, both have short lists and some on the lot. I know MoTH ships anywhere USA for $500, not sure on Classics shipping though

PS- wait lists are never less then 2 months takes at least 4 weeks to get to east coast US minimum, some are as short as 2 months some are still over a year.

ABTsportsline..

dont even bother to go "out of state" I'm from dallas originally but live in california..I bought my car from Moritz miini in Arlington and they are great. I had them add the front fogs (factory) and Aux input (dealer) and they didnt even end up charging me for the install on the aux input! (be sure you want the Aux input..I NOW REGRET IT ..cause I'm going to get a HD MP3 player that would have used the CD changer cables..but oops...) I also got the Aero kit (dealer) and they gave me a VERY fair price and did a great job on painting/hanging it.

Just call Chris Lord at Moritz ..MSRP and NO WAIT. They treated me like a king

I ordered my car from Mini of Manhattan ...2.5 months wait....i was also shocked by the price of the accessories installation..

they said that the auxiliary fog lights would be $1000 and the auxiliary gauges would also be $1000..

Hopefully the car will be here in March sometime....although i might go to MoTH and check it out..
