Good Advice from Niello

I shopped at Niello last January and the salesman gave me some excellent advice.
He advised me that if I wanted to pay MSRP, I should go to East Bay MINI.
(I did. Ordered an MCS and have been waiting ever since.)

Last week of January, 2003 - Order MCS from East Bay MINI
Last week of July, 2003 - In driveway washing 4Runner, the garage door across the street starts opening and see 2002 BRG MC in garage as neighbors pull in their driveway.
Last week of July, 2003 - (10 seconds later) make rude exclamation, then go across the street to congratulate them on their new purchase.
So to answer your question, there's at least one in Dixon that I know of. Next month there will be two, right across the street from each other. (Mine's on the OTELLO. Should be going through the Panama Canal about now)

Ahh...

Okay, thanks Olddad. I can clearly see your argument. Curious, can the Portland dealer get you a Calif. Spec. Mini (smog)? Are you getting a better deal on sales tax too? 'Cause THAT would be real cool! Motor-on!

It does not matter what state you buy it from you have to have it smoged in CA, don't worry though, every MINI is "smog leagal" its just a matter of the certificate. For the taxes you have to pay there taxes if you drive it off the lot and they give you a certificate and you have to make up the differance between CA and ORG taxes. For example: If ORG charges $1500 and then when you go to register it, they take how much the taxes would have been if you bought it here, say $2000, and they subtract $1500 so that leaves $500 you have to pay at registration. If you have it trucked in, then you don't have to pay ORG taxes but, have to pay the whole $2000 in one shot at registration.

Just a quick FYI...Oregon has no sales tax, the main reason many Californians chose to purchase there. You're right about having to pay the taxes if you return to California right away. There are two options however! First one is to join the military and make Oregon your home of record. Gets you out of paying the California tax if you're stationed here. Of course that may not be worth the hassle to most folks so the other way is to keep the vehicle out of state for 90 days. After that, it can be registered as a used car with the one-time fees California charges (environmental impact, plus registration I think).
Don't quote me on this as the rules always seem to change. Good luck (you'll need it) to anyone buyig from Niello.

'03 "S" DS/DS. NAV, Sport, Cold & Premium packages. Love it!

I would be interested in hearing people's service experiences at Niello. I just got my MSC and will most likely be taking it here for most of the services. Are they courteous? Have they been able to fix most problems on the first try (without causing other damage)? Are they knowledgeable about MINI problems? Do they fix things without question or do they try to say that everything is "normal" when it isn't? Thanks!

Check out this thread...

Niello Service Dept.

and to those comments I'd add I've had good service since then as well.
