follow me home lights?

yeah, what are "follow home" lights?

anyway, i wonder if all the black MINIs a previous poster is talking about being on the lot are spoken for?

i already ordered my MINI, but, the production date has already been pushed back a week ... and i'm geeking for my new wheels. ... if they had a black one with xenon lamps and sport seats, ...

(also i'm hoping my old jetta holds out during all this time =))

Didn't know any better but to take it with the default settings.

The door locks are fine -- one click to open driver's side, two clicks to open both doors and the boot. May need to go in and have them change the daytime running lights setting -- rather just leave the light switch in the on position all the time.

Making adjustments would probably add to the 20 minute time line I experienced.

Not sure, but I think a couple of the black MINI's at Don Rosen may be unspoken for. This is based on a fairly cryptic conversation with one of the sales guys, but if you give them a call I'm sure you can find out.

The MINIs that appear to be not yet sold have very basic equipment packages, with an MSRP of $17,500 to $18,000. So certainly no sport seats or xenon.

available MINIs...

oh well, gotta keep waiting then, i suppose....

is anyone else trading in an older car? did don rosen give you a good deal?

i'm trading in my 1991 jetta with 141K..it's in mechanically sound condition (very new clutch, properly maintained , etc) but, alas, it's an old car and you don't generally get much on them from a trade-in.

Trade in

Doubt that Don Rosen will give much of anything in the way of trade on a '91. Their used car lot is almost exclusively much newer, so they'd just send yours to auction.

They made me a laughable offer on my '96 Integra -- $6,500. I sold the car on my own for $9,250.

DR nicely did a courtesy trade for me, so I saved a bunch in sales tax.

I didn't bother trying to trade in - have an '86 Isuzu Pickup (121,000 mi) to get out of the garage in the next 10 days (it has my MINI license plate on it). May end up donating it as a tax writeoff.

I've got a '93 Sentra SE-R that I need to sell/trade. If anybody is interested, let me know.

No pardon needed, I didn't know what it was until the Don Rosen used car guy told me about it (after making a low ball trade in offer to me)

Works like this:

I found a buyer for my car and brought the car and the buyer to the dealership. Dealership took the car in "trade" for the price I've sold it for and then immediately delivers the car to my buyer for that price. I save the sales tax on the value of the trade in, the person I'm selling the car to gets the paperwork done efficiently. And Don Rosen gets kudos for customer service.

Wow - that's very cool. Did you do this at the exact same time you picked up your new MINI? Or is this something that can be done a few weeks or more before you car comes in?

Maybe it's something I'll look into for my 98 New Beetle.

Courtesy Trade

Did the trade about two weeks before my MINI arrived. Check with Alex to set the process up once you have a buyer. Then again, a 98 New Beetle might be of interest to DR for their used lot so you might get a good trade-in offer without the hassle of selling the car yourself.

"scheduled for production"

my MINI has now moved from "on order" to "scheduled for production"!!

here's a time frame for you guys who are anxiously waiting on your order:

i placed my order in the very beginning of april

after about a week amos had the production #. i logged into the MINI site and it showed my MINI as "on order" with an estimated build date of 5/10

last friday it was still "on order", with an estimated build date of 5/17

today it switched to "scheduled for production 5/17"

so it took a month and a week, roughly, to go from ordering to being scheduled to be built.

excited!

Wow - very cool. Congrats!

At your prompting, I just logged into the MINI Owner's Lounge myself. And I am glad I did! It seems like the system updates on Fridays or something!

My MINI, ordered earlier this week, just went from "On Order" without any estimated production date - to an estimated production date of June 7th!

How cool. I have heard about 4 weeks from production to delivery from dealer (in some cases, up to 6 weeks for us east coasters). That'd be wild if it showed up sometime around the 2nd week of July - it's when I get back from my honeymoon. I'd get to start the next stage of my life with both a cool new wife and a cool new car!

Jason

PS -- Any updates on the Jingu Maru? I hear a bunch of MINIs from this and other dealerships are on the boat!

I stopped by Don Rosen on Wednesday to drive the Cooper again. More fun than the first time My younger brother also joined in on the fun... Got to see the new additions that were mentioned here - the flat screen tv showing the car in action and the CD rack for people to select some tunes for the test drive. They also had a bunch of Indi Blue and Black Mini's sitting out front, must have been from a new shipment as they still had the plastic on the seats.

I already had put down a deposit for a regular Cooper, but for some reason my order wasn't sent in for a May build. Maybe I didn't fit into their monthly allocation? Or maybe they just don't like me it wasn't really explained to me why...

I guess I have to wait another month and rely on mini2.com for my daily dose of stories and pictures

Glad to see that some of you in the 60+ club have speced your S's. At #85 that's encouraging. Did any of you request the non "brushed aluminum" interior details? That's all I've seen on the S's and am not too fond of it and prefer the straight silver painted metal components. It's not detailed on miniusa.com but I thought I read that others were spec-ing theirs that way.

Chris, the first is true. You were not in the may allocation. Don't worry, I couldn't even get my best friend in it. However, july cars will have Xenon again...I know you wanted those.
