Offline | Personally, if I'd just spent £X amount on a car and found a bald tyre, I would be straight back to the dealer and giving them a real round of grief until something got sorted! Then again, I'm the sort of person who argues the toss over a pint of milk if I think I can get some discount, but yeah, I think you should persue... Offline | Its all about the sale of goods act 1971. The goods purchased (regardless of what they are) must be fit for purpose, and in the case of a second hand car, this means that the vehicle must be in a condition commensurate with its age, and overall roadworthy. If the tyre is bald enough to fail an MOT (even if the car is not old enough to need one yet), then it makes the vehicle unraodworthy, and thus it is not fit for purpose, and the fault should be rectified by the dealer. If it is not quite bald enough yet, you could try and point out that as a BMW garage there are standards that are expected, and a balding tyre is not one of them. Go for it, and good luck!! |
