Australia How much deposit did your dealer want?

I've not long placed my order for my MCS and was initially surprised when the dealer asked for a 10% deposit (around AU$4000). In the end I secured my order with a little under 5%, or AU$2000. In a country where $500 is usually enough to secure the deal I was just wondering what experiences other people have had in regard to placing a deposit on a new MINI.

It was $500 USD to order the car. Also, that was refundable if you chose not to buy the car when it came in.

$2K US,
other dealer it was $500 US.

And that just buys you a spot in line for 6 months (first dealer) or a year (second dealer).

I had to put down $1000 at the time of ordering and then another $1000 when the car went into production (about 9 mths later). This was from the Adelaide MINI garage.

Dutchy.

Sadly INIMINI is gone, but never forgotten.

I was also going to add, but didn't, my girlfriend and I decided to wait for 12 months to get our finances in order. At least we got onto the list early ,although still a 9 months wait min anyway.
We got the car in June last year and have enjoyed every second since.

mini dealers in other countries must be very untrusting, here in northen ireland I paid zero deposit, for my first cooper, or for my cooper S second time round.

i paid no deposit, but then I'm ordering it through a lease company so they do all the work.

as an aside, if I lose my job or just choose not to keep the car (yeah right), I can pay $110 at anytime and hand the car back.
