Baron BMW/Mini of Kansas City

Good Day!

I'm about to plunk down the deposit for a Mini. I found this website during my research and learned a great deal. There is nothing recent about the KC Mini dealer I am talking with, Baron BMW/Mini.

Could any recent buyers and service customers relate their experiences?

Thanks.

United-States

We purchased two from them and we are pleased. Talk to Gabe or Lisa (#2 salesperson in the US).

Service has been fair with us and fixed all issues. Not always on the first try but things were always corrected.

Just more praise for Baron MINI. Gabriel was extremely helpful when I purchased my MINI at the end of last year. Haven't had any need for service yet (3000 miles), but I certainly don't expect many problems. Enjoy!

Thanks for the responses! Gabriel has been very helpful (everyone I've met has been too) and trusting: he let me drive off twice for unsupervised exploration rides. Found a great big empty parking lot and practiced making turns. What a fun little car this is!

I am on order for late May delivery.

Congrats Rick, you'll be very happy come May. I was also pleasantly surprised when my late-December arrival showed up at Baron on the 10th of December instead!

Glad to hear good things about Baron MINI. I've spoken with and emailed Lisa. No problems or concerns (so far) with Baron.

I'm from the Denver, CO area and ordered an MCS from Baron (Lisa) on 3/19/04 with expected delivery in "mid-May." Local Denver MINI dealer projects wait of 4 to 6 months (2 months with Baron). Hoping for early or on-time delivery. Will have to fly to KC then drive back 600 miles when MCS ready. Can't wait!

I'm doing the same. Live in Colorado, ordered from Baron Mini in Kansas City. So far, dealer is very responsive. Delivery due mid to late May. The wait at the Denver Mini is ridiculous. Three month wait just to take your order. Test drives by appoiintment only. What a drag.

Cool! I suspect that we're not the only ones seeking quicker delivery than the local Denver dealer can provide.I live in the Littleton (suburb) area and I'm willing to go through the added effort to get my MINI sooner.

I placed my order on 3/19. It's a Dark Silver MCS with white top and bonnet stripes and with practically all the bells and whistles except sun roof and navigation system. As of today, my MINI is built and is waiting for a ride from the factory to the dock. I plan to join a local club named MINI5280 (www.mini5280.org). I'd also like to try my hand at autocross sometime. Where abouts in Colorado are you from?

United-States Best car buying experience I've ever had.

Just bought it, picked it up Wednesday.

More than impressed; Baron was outstanding!

Polite, professional and efficient. They didn't waste time, pressure me or any of the normal car dealer tricks.

My wife, who hates car shopping, was so impressed she even mentioned it. Although I can't say anything about a long term relationship with Baron, the short term experience has been exceptional. Plus, I've heard from others who have bought BMWs from them that their service is super.

I think Toyota may have just lost the sale on our next car to BMW, and that's another two years away.

Hey, is there a KC Mini club?

I have an Orange MC convertible.

Baron = A+ Service

I ordered my second MCS from Lisa last month. It's always been a pleasure to work with everyone at Baron. Their service department is top notch and their technicians are the best in the country. I travel 190 miles each way for service and I always look forward to the drive and visiting with everyone at Baron. This has been a complete 180 from my last expereince from the local Toyota dealer. Baron is also a great supporter of local organized club events in the KC area. Fantastic facility, great staff, knowlegable techs and best of all, they treat their customers as friends. You can't go wrong.

How did you get your cars so quick?

I ordered my MCS Conv. from Baron's on March 12th and it was just built on April 27 and just May 17th was unloaded in Charleston, SC. Can anyone tell me how long it will take to get to Baron's. I called Gabe and he didn't know. Does Baron's take pictures and have balloons and stuff like some of the other dealers? Also before I ordered I spoke with a Mini owner from the east coast and he said that during the waiting period to get my Mini I would receive free stuff in the mail from Mini. I've not received anything. Have any of you?
Also I live 4 hours from KC does anyone know if Baron's gives me a loaner car when they need to keep her for repairs? Thanks for the info.

It takes about a week to transport from the East coast to KC. Congratulations, your wait will soon be over. I ordered my 05 MCS on April 30 and production isn't expected until mid July with an August delivery. You had a very quick turn around on your order. My '03 took 6 months from order to delivery so the wait time is improving. Baron does a marvelous job of delivering new MINIs. Gabe will set an appointment with you and take you through the process. The cars are delivered in a special showroom, the same place $100K Bimmers are delivered. It's a very pleasant experience and Baron has a first class operation. I drive up from Wichita for service and they have always offered a new 3 series loaner for the day. I did receive a letter from Baron stating that they would now require a $10 fee for a loaner vehicle. I don't think that's unreasonable.

Enjoy your new MINI and the top-down driving season.

United-States I ordered from Gabe at Baron on May 7th

Yep, I'm new on here and I can't wait to I get my production number so I can start tracking my MINI. I was told that I would most likely not get my MINI until Aug So, far I have been very pleased with how not only I was treated there but my family as well. I took my wife, dad and brother up to KC which is a four hour drive from where I live. We had planned on ordering from Jackie Cooper MINI in Oklahoma city but they did not offer the Dinan products which are much cheaper than the JCW. Gabe swears that it will NOT void my MINI warranty and that Dinan also offers a 50k warranty on their parts as well. The one thing I did notice however is that when I made my trip to Jackie Cooper they had at least 40 new MINIs to look at and test drive on their lot while Baron had only about three or four. BTW I have on order a CR/W MCS with LDS and 16in wheels. The Dinan will be put on, on a return trip.

It sounds like we will both be taking delivery about the same time. I just got a production number issued to my order for a week 27 build (2nd wk July). Lisa expects the car to be in around the 1st or 2nd week of August. I ordered late April so this wait is killing me.

Gabe is a great MA and a true enthusiast. I didn't get a sense that the MAs at Jackie Cooper were as dedicated. I too was a little shocked at the number of MINIs sitting on JC's lot, at least 20. I stopped at Baron last Friday and they had nothing in the showroom and nothing on the lot except the demonstrators. They had sold out of their floor inventory and were busy trying to clean a couple of cars that had just arrived. I really seems that Baron is doing everything right. Their sales team have been MINI USA sales leaders for a couple of years now.

United-States Finally got my production number!

As of June 1st I received my production number, hopefully I will receive mine in early August as well. This wait is really maddening!

Hi All,

Figured I'd bring this dealership back up the list. I'm yet another guy from Colorado ordering out of Baron in order to save some time. Lisa has been great so far. I had a chance to go out there this past weekend. What a place! Very classy! I even brought some rather unkempt friends of mine. They're the kinds of guys that any other dealership would try and throw off their lot as soon as possible simply based on appearance. Barron was very professional and friendly to all of us. They even let me take their Demo MCS out for an unsupervised spin, making a potential customer wait a couple minutes, even though I had already ordered my Car! Really makes you feel good about ordering from them.

Anyway, I have a question for those of you who have already accepted delivery from Baron. How long did it take from production date, to the date you drove away? Lisa is telling me it'll be about 8 weeks. That seems kinda long to me. Is she padding it in order to surprise me with an earlier delivery? I ask because I'd rather know exactly when it's coming so I can plan my trip out there to pick it up (it's a 600 mile drive!).

Thanks in advance!

-Bryan

I'm guessing 6 weeks

I'm guessing that 8 weeks is padded, so as to not disappoint you, but you never know. It's not in until it's in. A year ago, my early 2005 build was delivered around the 2nd week in August. I'd guess that it will be around 6 weeks. The wait is tough no matter what, but it's worth it! Be sure to look into joining www.MINI5280.org when you get your ride!

Another great experience at Baron. Lisa delivered my 2nd MCS July 21st and it was terrific as usual. Everyone involved in the process couldn't have been nicer. Everything was ready and waiting when I arrived. The car was sitting in a delivery showroom ready for the grand rollout. Perfect. An hour later I was motoring back to Wichita. We're now 700 miles into the breakin and no problems to report. Zero noise from the LSD too. I'm very happy with Lisa's expertice, professionalism and the excellent staff at Baron. Bravo.

Wingman, I will be picking up my first MCS and first new car tomorrow at Baron myself! My MA was Gabe, and so far so good. It was looking a little rough there for a moment but he managed to pull the whole thing together. BTW great looking car. I must admit I have never really liked nor even entertained the idea of a yellow car, but yellow looks great on Minis! What an outstanding looking ride!
