MINI of Towson

I just wanted to start a feedback outlet for the dealership in Baltimore to find others opinion.

Compliments or Complaints?

Thanks and good luck to all!

So far things are OK. Test drove the S last Saturday; working with M/A Dave Shelton to spec my S. Maybe we could all use this thread to share the info they give us (M of T).
Any thoughts?

I was #1 on their list, since last April..before they were awarded the franchise. I live 5 miles away. Since then, the people I've been dealing with have changed faster than the weather. Now, I'm dealing with Brett Sholder (GM) and Barry Wilson (sales).

I'm thrilled that they are a MSRP dealing dealer. I had specced a Dark Silver car on 3/25, that Brett said he was going to put into the hopper on Monday. Well, it turns out that he was trying to modify the first five factory spec cars he'd been given. BMW wouldn't allow him to do that, so my spec went into a drawer, and there was a general e-mail sent out saying customer spec cars would be put in for June build. I went back in to find out there were a gazillion factory spec cars slated to be sent to Towson before mine. I wish that had been in the e-mail! I raced over there, too impatient to wait for a June build. Brett shared the list of factory spec cars, and I chose one. It'll be built May 17.

See, some nuts like myself will give up their dream of a customer spec car just for another month of summer driving!

Bottom line? Real MINI freaks like you and I will always know more about the car than our salespeople...accept that. Also accept that we're into the CAR...the dealer and builder are into the profit...they are not enthusiasts. You and I are very anxious about a month's difference...they're not. Accept all that and you'll be less critical.

I'm happy with Towson MINI

Minimoke,

What # are you on the list? I haven't been given any production # or date yet, but maybe that'll change with the new allocation of S's according to kshapiro. Dave Shelton told me I'd be contacted for final confirmation of my spec's before their sent in.
BTW, I think I'm around 103. Hoping some of the non-enthusiasts won't want to wait, and'll settle for a plain-jane cooper, or one of the new pre-spec. allocations At an rate, I don't need this car until Late September.

Kshapiro - that's my pic. Did you remeber seeing me at Mini of Towson last saturday?

Sorry...I don't look at guys that carefully...not that there's anything wrong with that (PC).

Ummm. . . yeah, ok. You were a little more enthusiast in the IM you sent back last week. Just a fellow Mini enthusiast; not looking for a date.

Smile

Took my test drive last Monday at Mini of Towson.
Have been dealing with both Bret Shoulder and Barry Wilson.
So far so good. I did a spec while I was there, but it appears because of the Sept. availabilty on some items, that will change. At this point, I don't know what # I am, as some have already taken pre-speced. Started # 16.
I'll wait, but if my neighbor gets one first, I'll have to take his keys.

Prices great, specs. not so great.

I'm pleased with Towson's prices and I received a Cooper production#, but the specs on the owner's lounge don't match Towson's.

Brett is quite receptive to offering aftermarket parts as well ($$$). The Mini's got to go DOWN.

I ordered my mini last week from Towson MINI (March 25th) and then went in to get my production number on Friday the 29th only to find that they hadn't ordered the car, even though they swear they did. Brett ordered it this past weekend and while I have a week later build, the spec on the owner's lounge matches the car I asked for unlike poor Jim's. I was pleased with the pricing too. And Barry is a great guy to work with. Dave doesn't seem to have a whole lot of in depth knowledge. Brett is all salesman.

VERY ethical so far

I was back in TOWSON MINI today...just to get a "fix" (sit in the EB on the showroom floor). The PR guy told me that somebody offered them $11,000 over sticker for the EB demo! Unlike some of the dealerships we've all read about, they said no to the guy. The PR guy's words were, "Very short sighted to do that." I've always had bad interactions with car dealerships, so honestly I'm always waiting for the show to drop. But so far, this dealership is acting the way we all want dealerships to act. I think they're just $$$mart. I'll alwys go back to them and always recommend them if they keep up this very fair, very professional attitude.

My car is half way across the Atlantic(even though the MINI USA site doesn't know that)!!!

On the Boat?

Wait a minute - how do you know your MINI is on the boat if MINI Usa doesn't? A) how do you know it is on a boat and b) how do you know when the boat sails?

Reason I am so interested is that my car was built on April 17th and I am just waiting for it to be sent across the pond to me. Is there some minute chance it may be on the way and I just don't know it??? (hope hope hope)

Don't listen to MINIUSA - listen to the freight line (they should know where their ships are AND what's on them).

Freight Liner?

Ah but you didn't answer my question - how do you know what freight liner they use and how do I know which freight liner my car is on? How can I track it down?

Cargo Tracking:

You need a VIN#. If you have one, go to the following:

http://schedule.2wglobal.com/GLWebApps.AppTracking

Go to Track by Cargo, click on Auto

Cargo ID is the last 7 digits of the VIN, type in, hit "Track"

Should take you to the Cargo Status History Page; it will show you the vessel name and the Voyage ID - you can click on the Voyage ID and it will take you to the ship's itinerary.

(Geez - I think I just did a FAQ)

Ok so went to that website and if the info is true then my MINI is on the Jinga Maru and due to arrive in Baltimore on May 3rd. No way! Hmm, will be tracking that closely for sure.

Hey, my car's ID is TC33895 - wonder if the production line numbers are consecutive. (but mine's on the Jingu Maru).
