Offline | Baron Mini Kansas City I put down a $500.00 deposit April 16, 2001. Initially, I wanted an S. However, when it became apparent that the first cars offered would be 75% or more MINI Coopers, I Changed my preference. On March 24th I was told I could schedule a test drive, but that no cars could be commited. I arrived at Baron's for my appointment on March 28. I was 35 on the list, but everyone ahead of me wanted to wait for an S or wanted an Automatic Cooper, so after about 3 hours of test drive, doodahing and trying to get a swap of 16 inch wheels instead of the 15's on the available car, I drove off in a Liquid yellow, black roof, Premium combo, heated seats, fog lights, 5 speed MINI Cooper. Price was msrp plus a $997 Dealer Pack, Plus $97 Documentation fee. Overall, a better deal than some accross the country, since the Pack includes some desirable stuff, and is no more than double the value - 6 disc CD Changer (MINI brand) carpet floor mats, "Beer Can" exhaust tip ( I thought that was supposed to be stock, but its only $30.00 of the pack) and a "Cargo organiser" Which was not in stock and has not yet arrived. I can't imagine what that $80.00 chunk of plastic can be. Anyway ITS A GREAT CAR! It has attracted more attention than any other car I've owned, and since I'm a small used car dealer, that over 200 different cars! Everyone says "Its Cool' or "It's Cute!" Since I am an autocrosser, I would like to buy another set of stock wheels, either 15 or 16 inch. I won my first autocross on April 7th by a 2 second margin, in the rain, on the stock Czech made Continental tires! Happy Trails, Abner Liquid Yellow, Black Roof Premium Combo, heated seats, fog lights, Cooper 5 speed, driven since March 28, 2002 |

Offline | Re: Baron Mini Kansas City Well, congratulations on your new MINI! ![]() I'm curious about the $30 charge for the "beer can" exhaust tip, as you are correct, it is standard design feature of the MINI. Perhaps you got a different type of tip and they mislabled it in the package? For clarity, the standard "beer can" exhaust tip is shown below. If you got something different, can you please post a picture? (Perhaps it's an official MINI accessory?) But if you got the standard tip and they charged you for it, I would guess you'd want to have a word with the dealership about that. + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

Offline | Exhaust tip mine appears to be even larger diameter, with a funnel like insert, so it is not the stock "beer can". sorry, I have no way to do a photo. Happy Trails, Abner Liquid Yellow, Black Roof Premium Combo, heated seats, fog lights, Cooper 5 speed, driven since March 28, 2002 |

Online | The "funnel" shaped exhaust tip (pn 82 12 0 143 376) is listed in the accessories catalog as $29.75. The $80 boot box (pn 82 11 0 147 396) is described as follows: It doesn't appear to have a lid however. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Exhaust tips I discovered that the chrome tip is just a friction fit - you can just pull it off to polish or replace! So, is the beer-can the same way, and if so, do you think I can get mine back from the dealer to be able to change style from time-to-time?
