Double Dealing Me?

After putting down a deposit for a '05 soon after they were announced, I was told I was second on the list from a large dealer in N.Y.

Asking what my status was after hearing of US dealers starting to give build dates for the '05s, I was told "For the 1st build month of July they have issued cars that we cannot change".

This strikes me as an odd situation where a dealer would not be given the opportunity to order cars for which they have orders. I could be led to believe they have a few cars dictated, but not the whole month's allotment.

I have a strong aversion to doing business with a dealer who misled me so I would like to know if this explanation sounds fishy to anybody else.

Very common. I work at a Volvo dealership and it is that way with the initial allocation of cars. They wan to get some cars out to the dealerships so the build an intial production run. After a month or so, we can changes cars.
