Offline | Having a salesperson dilemma Maybe I'm waaaay too much of a softie, so I come to you guys for an objective view. From what I can tell, there are 2 sales people at my dealership. We were assigned one randomly I guess. My sp is, well, ok. Nice enough but he's either not terribly knowledgable or is yanking my chain--regardless..he's kinda ticking me off. For example, he was really pushing the premium package on me..but I was quite adamant that I do not want a moonroof. First of all, he told me my fear of having the moonroof leak was "unfounded" since this "is a BMW we're talking about" and that I needed to research moonroofs Um, ok buddy--what about the fact that I told you I want to have a Union Jack on the top..hello? Did you forget? Plus, he said, if I didn't get the auto air I couldn't get the climate controlled glove compartment. First of all, I think I can live w/o it , second of all, since I have to add on dealer accessories, might as well get a coolbag, and third of all..that's not even true!! It's standard on the Cooper and SI told him I was 99% sure I wanted a BRG Cooper but needed to see one in person to be sure....and that my other color choices were IB, Chili red, and liquid yellow. And that I was really looking forward to ordering one with exactly what I want. So then he starts going through his inventory list saying, well, we have a black one coming in....how 'bout a silver one...silver is a very nice color. Am I talking to myself here??? Anyhoo---how horrible would it be for me to ask to switch salespeople? The other person seems very nice, knowledgeable, and upfront about stuff. I mean, I don't want to come across as a total b with an itch, but by the same token, I want someone to sell me a car that I feel comfortable with and someone I'll be glad will be getting a commission. Thoughts? |

Offline | I would ask to see the sales manager. Sounds like the "motoring advisor" is not listening too well. Did he show you the vanity mirror!!!! You need to get some respect. See the manager. Good luck. '02 Cooper, BRG/white, Premium pkg., Sport pkg., chrome bumpers. |

| Bad Dog, Moderator | Blow him off ! Easy to do, walk into the dealership and go up to the preferred salesperson. Tell him/her you would prefer to work with them as the other salesperson is not paying attention to your questions and concerns. It's your money...I'm sure i've already gotten a rep as an A with a hole at my dealership but I'm not there to make friends. ![]() Chili Red / Black Roof Cooper "S", delivered Aug 5, 2002. Offline | I'm with Gromit and Apex - blow him off (not like that). This comes up all the time and creates a bit of tension between salespeople, but should not bother you in the first place. The waiting list names were divied up to create a level playing field among sales people, but the dingdong doesn't suit you so just cross the floor to the other one. You will only be reinforcing what the other salesperson and the GM of the dealership already know. The customer is always right! --- my money's on the little guy --- |

| MINI2 Master | The Customer is King. If you don't like the way you are treated and feel embarassed about making a fuss, then the simplest thing would be to visit a different dealer. The other dealer may even be worse, but if you don't ask you'll never know. The best deal with the first place you try becomes increasingly less likely with the more dealers you ask. Buy in haste repent at leisure... You will find your dream if you keep looking. |

Offline | Very simple indeed: go to the other sales person. Forget about the other guy because he will sure as hell either: 1. Forget about you, or 2. Learn a valuable lesson and become a better MINI representative. You are investing too much time, money and energy into an extremly important event in your life to have it screwed up or demeaned by some bozo who is too busy listening to their own voice to hear yours. To summarize in three words via quote by the esteemed Gromit, "blow him off". ![]() Missing my buddies Dan and Ed but glad I have two angel buddies , And on a quest to Right Secco's Wrongs |
