Yeeehaah!
Well I made it back yesterday and it will be no surprise to anyone that I'm in love with my car. I had to change my travel plans and the car (now with 1877 miles on it) took a bit of a beating from the sanded roads in Wyoming and Colorado. But it's broken in and loves to fly.
I don't have time right now to post pics and details but I'll try after work tonight.
Olddad...I said hi to Debbie for you and she knew who you were. I guess she wasn't there when you took delivery but she wanted me to send her greetings. I was very impressed with Debbie the dealership in Murray.
I have to get ready for work now, but I'll post more later. You won't believe how bad the car looked at the end of the trip...

Just posted pics from my trip to take delivery from Mini of Murray. As I said, Debbie was great. The trip was fun yet destructive to the car (rocks & sand) but it was worth it.
So far, Mini of Murray has treated me very well. There's a small probelm with the Clear Bra they had installed for me but I'm sure they'll take care of it.
Other than that, I still recommend them to anyone seeking a fair price with no hassles.

Yes, I was right! Debbie took care of the problem with the Clear Bra. I was worried at first but she came through. This just makes me even surer that I made the right choice going with Mini of Murray.
Hey Sausagefingers...how's everything with you and your car?
By the way, my gallery is now on page 20
Later...

I know this is an older thread, but it was the most appropriate place for me to mention how awesome my experience with Debbie Linge at MINI of Murray was. I could not recomend dealing with them any more.

Ditto. She must be doing something right. When I first talked to her, she was a sa. Now she is the sales manager.

Anyone in N Cal who wants a shorter wait than at East Bay MINI should consider Murray. At least when it comes to the Cooper S.

Yeah, and don't forget about the rip offs at Niello in Sacramento. They're the reason I went with Debbie at Mini of Murray.

I just saw a Gold Cooper from Mini of Murray on the Sac State campus yesterday. Was that anyone on here?

The MA at MINI of Moutain View and their mark-up, and the wait at East Bay MINI were the reasons that I went with Murray, and I have no regrets.

Yellow Cooper MINI of Murray

Greetings:
Just to follow up this post, I thought Debbie at MINI of Murray was unfriendly, unhelpful, and has no business being the Sales Manager.
I dealt with Karen Johnson, who was friendly and helpful. We dealt by telephone, as we are five hundred miles from Salt Lake City. She did call several times to make sure that I brought a certified or cashiers check. A time or two too often I thought.
When we arrived on a Friday afternoon to pick up our new MCS, we walked in, and asked for Karen Johnson. A women in an office, who turned out to be Debbie the Sales Manager, without looking up, motioned that her desk was "over there". After waiting for a few minutes, Karen appeared. We went out to look at the car, and began the paperwork after coming back inside. Karen, who had been coming and going, then asked me, at the behest of Debbie, to move my truck and trailer. It was parked in the back parking area, not blocking any cars, and not hindering the flow of traffic in any way. It was taking up about six of the ten parking spaces available, which were all empty upon upon our arrival and departure. We were the only Mini customers there at the time. Karen relayed that her Sales Manager suggested that it be parked in the street in front of the building, which is a busy four lane highway. I guess she thought I wanted to play in the traffic while loading the car, or maybe just wanted us to know that she was the boss. I can't imagine what she was thinking. She made us feel like we were trespassing instead of parting with a substantial sum of money.
Over the last twenty years, we have purchased dozens of cars, and this is the first time I have ever felt like the dealer believed they were doing me a favor by selling me a car. We had a friend from England with us and he was flabbergasted. We just could not understand it. We're normal looking people, and my truck and trailer were newish and clean...it just didn't make any sense. Anyway, if you can put up with that kind of treatment, then go to MINI of Murray. Maybe that's why their waiting list is short. Maybe nobody local buys there?

I am sorry you did not have a good experience. My expereince with Debbie was phenomenally great. I had an awful experience at my local dealer, but plenty of people still go there and have had a good experience. ShruG. Most people that I have heard from about MINI of Murray, and Debbie in particular have had very positive things to say.

Happy Motoring.

I agree, Debbie was great to deal with. Everyone has a bad day now and then, maybe you were there on hers. You're the first one to post a bad experience there so I'd take it as a rare occurance.
I hope mtmcs is now enjoying the main reason for his trip to Mini of Murray...his new car.

Mini of Murray

Today I just placed an order with Mini of Murray. Debbie Linge was my motoring advisor. They have been great so far. I 've got a December build for Indi blue cooper. They sell at MSRP, no mark up.

I have been waiting for four months on a waiting list with Northwest Mini in Tacoma, WA. I called toay and cancelled my order and got my deposit back. Northwest Mini told me I would have a December build when I placed my order August 1st. Yesterday when I called they said sorry it will be February. Northwest mini also charges $500 over MSRP.

I plan on picking up my Cooper in Utah and then road trip to California to visit my brother. Probably stop at state line on South Lake Tahoe to ski and gamble. Then drive north to Seattle leave the car at the barge terminal and fly home to Alaska. I 'll have my cooper all broke in by the time it arrives in Alaska. Looking forward to a nice long road trip in my new cooper.

My mini will travel to Alaska via barge. It will be its second ocean voyage in less than a month. The trip will take about ten days. I didn't think 50 below on the alaska highway was a good idea.

I've seen other positive posts about mini of Murray on othe mini web sites.

AKmini...may I suggest having Debbie install Clear Bra before you take delivery? I picked my car up at Mini of Muray lin October '02 and I'm thankful I chose to have Clear Bra installed. It protects the covered areas from stone chips but it's practically invisible on the car. If you look at my pictures you can't tell it's there (personal galleries, lotatoys).
I took a few good hits driving from SLC to California and had the windshield replaced due to the damage from that trip. However, the protected areas of the car were fine. Just make sure you get the headlight. foglight and full front end package. Talk to Debbie, I'm sure she can arrange it.
Cheers!

FYI: Murray no longer does clear bra. I requested Debbie for that and she refused to do it. My understanding is that it creates more problems for the dealership than it is worth it.

Clear Bra - Murray Mini

The Clear Bra was on my list when I ordered my cooper. Debbie said they would install if I wanted but she recomended a private shop that has a better product and warranty than mini. She said they could take care of getting my cooper over to the business for the install and take care of the payment.

The price from "Tint Specialist" for the full coverage $450. Driving Alaskan highways in the winter the protection is a good buy to protect the paint job, fog lights and headlights.

Thanks for the heads up about the clear bra anyways. Debbie at Murray mini has been great so far.

Well I hate to admit this but it was probably me that caused them to stop installing Clear Bra. I had paid for the complete front end kit which covered the headlights, hood, bumper and foglights. Turns out the foglight covers weren't installed and after a lengthy complaint process, Debbie warrantied two new foglights as a result of damage from my trek back to California (in October, through snowy, sanded roads). Also, one headlight cover started to peel lose and it took a long time to get a replacement, which I installed myself.
Despite the hassles, Debbie did come through and I still appreciate her help.
