All of a sudden I get a call from Peabody that my car is on the boat over here

Unfortunately, part of my order was overlooked, but I'm hopeful it can be added here. I'll take what I can get & consider myself lucky!

I received my invitation for the official opening of the dealership yesterday. Did any of you get it? I dont know if i'll be attending or not. I think it is on the 19 of june.

It's the 19th of June. I'm not going. I just had spinal surgery on Wednesday 6/12 and am somewhat immobile for 8 days or so. I'm limited to 15 mins. sitting upright every couple of hours so I have to jump on the computer, send emails and check the MINI forums furiously for 15 mins.!
Besides, I already have my MINI S production #, so sure as heck don't need to go to Peabody

Hachomini, No problem! We will gently run in your baby for you. I figure you will be WELL beyond the break in mileage upon your return!

I'm sure between those of us who post here we can work out an amicable schedule. Did you say you would be in HK? My wife will be in that hemisphere (Korea) for three weeks in July. She's been to HK twice and loved it.
Good news for me. Just got VIN # and scheduled for production on July 5th for my S. This was after the date had reverted to July 15th. Yahoo

I've been reading the thread for a while and thought it was time I jump into the fray. I'm on the wait list at Mini of Peabody for a Cooper S. For those of you who have production slots from Mini of Peabody, how long ago did you get on the list? I heard recently from them that the March orders were currently getting placed. Any info out there to back that up?

Hi BelmontMini and welcome aboard

I got on the list last summer (August 2001) My S is scheduled to be built next week

I'm glad I resisted the offer of an early build factory spec S and the often accompanying problems. So for me it will be 12 months from deposit to delivery.
I don't know if the Boston dealership (Herb Chambers)would have much better to offer. But I have heard 99% negative about them and only 1% positive.

I'm hopeful it'll be about 4-5 weeks after production. Based on what I'm reading that'll be about right. BUT, there's always the off-chance that something will go wrong. Look at Little Bears post in general discussion today!

Cape Cod, good luck with the delivery date. I had been offered one of the (presumably) pre-spec Cooper S's recently, and I decided to hold off. Hopefully all of us will be motoring around the area soon.

You're correct, the price has dropped significantly

I had a good talk with Gary in the service dept. He's knowledgable and very enthusiastic. I am now definately doing the full aero kit, having the black wheel arches painted red to match the rest. They use an epoxy paint that fills the uneveness of the plastic/vinyl, so they are smooth. It's gonna look great
