Dealer Prep?

1) My dealer failed to program my onboard computer for daytime running lights, rapid interior cool-down, etc.
2) That's bad, but they didn't even bother to tell me that they didn't do it.
3) When I asked MINIUSA about the problem, they were happy to tell me that the dealer was ready to do the work (see below).
4) When I tried to schedule the work with my dealer, I was told that they didn't have the computer and couldn't do the work--I've had the car for three weeks!

OK--I accept that a new car could cause some confusion. However, I would assume that BMW USA was aware that the MINI was coming to the states and that there would be a need for some new shop equipment. Since the dealers are allowed to charge premium prices, one would hope that they would be forced to provide premium service.

Although I love the car, I'm not impressed with the delivery organization.

Is this an example of British, German, or American organizational skills?

Reply from MINI USA:

Thanks for writing in!

I spoke with Larry Miller at Baron MINI and he told me that he talked to the Service Manager about your needs.

They are now ready to program daytime running lights. Please call your dealer and ask for the service dept. to schedule your work. If you have any problems ask to speak with the Baron MINI Service Manager.

Thanks again and enjoy your MINI!
